If it's a government for and by the people, then it's much preferable to for profit entities where decisions are made by the few. And one way or another, decisions will be and are made currently by the few.

Please show me this government you speak of. This government is for profit of those in it and you know it.

ANY way but for a government with totalitarian powers.

Is your plan to have government decide winners and losers in life?

I don't claim to have a plan, but I'd love to have a government whose constant imperative is to equalize opportunity, and that is responsive to the will of the people.

If we did, we'd be moving in the opposite direction than the one we're heading, on pretty much most issues.

We need a Federal government Danny. How can we be "united" without laws that cover the whole country

Decisions are supposed to be made by the few. We just keep getting the wrong few.

As for "by the people", look at all of our current policies - and those we're working toward, and see if they line up with the will of the majority.

The majority want increased investment, and a rapid shift towards clean energy; but our greedy, fearful leaders are lining their pockets and pushing clean coal.

Getting the money out of politics is the first and most important first step. Unless we do that, old money will work to keep the status quo; and, like/believe it or not, we'll keep falling further behind.

A federal government that has 18 enumerated powers and no more I'm happy with.

The current federal levitation is unacceptable, and still getting bigger and not going away any time soon.

Effective powers of elasticity (of national interests) and profitability (of participation) are kinda the point here so long as oil lubricates and fuels our technology.
Link for enumerated: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enumerated......_States)
and here's some grouching by Nassim Taleb about his book reviews: https://medium.com/incerto/the-controver......416ee47f

Yup, tough choices about which is more important - results or personal short term profits, and more generally whether money has smell.

Then what's the point of having it?
Do we get to drain the swamp or not?

A government by the few for the few.

Or... we could actually decide that the day of rule by the few should go the way of the monarchy and feudal lords, and stop being so afraid of our own power.

Of course the few will not like that.

They will fight back with everything they have, which is considerable.

So we stop being afraid, fight back, win, and replace what we have with....what?

I get promised this every 4 years and can't recall one instance of it happening. Just a different brand of corruption. Same Hula dancer with a different skirt.

Who leads, and how do "we" decide that they should?

(I know this seems frivolous, but indulge me.)

Republic with a little bit of democratic participation among those who can afford to participate in the mud slinging approval pageants.
