With the U.S. East Coast blanketed in snow once again, it’s hard to imagine that climate scientists and environmentalists predicted years ago that the “end of snow” was nigh and not one climate hysteric disagreed.

Not you if you were a climate hysteric.
Ice at the ice caps? Nope, it will all be gone by 1984. Polar bears?

The trick is to imagine being right about something has meaning when one has no clue what to do that would be right. Correct?
Chill out. Do some engineering. Or at least ponder the meaning of taking a public position in a matter that effects others who may well have both a different opinion and every reason to do as you were (and are still) doing.

Is Magnus Eisengrim claiming that I said that Porter Fox is a scientist of any type?

I thought I knew what "LOL" and "ROTFLMAO" stood for, but they seem to mean, "Okay, you win. I see now that my position was wrong."

The Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, a joint program of the Smithsonian Institution and Harvard University, is harboring a polluter-funded climate denier. Documents uncovered by Greenpeace reveal that Dr. Wei-Hock "Willie" Soon has taken money from the Kochs, Exxon Mobil, coal giant Southern Company, and others to produce "deliverables" that push the long-debunked claim that solar activity, not fossil fuel pollution, drives global warming.
You know, I tend to trust Exxon's OWN scientists, the Pentagon's scientists and NASA than I do the two bit mouthpieces hired by the likes of Koch and the people Exxon hired to deny the work of their own guys. |

What's that Lassie? Gas prices are down? Get Timmy, we're getting a SUV.
Between Young Earth science and billions who full well believe in a fiery heck on earth... asking folks to use science on this one seems comical. Gonna swear it on a copy of Newton's Principia? Gonna burn the oil barons in effigy? Heavy water has lead in it... got it.

On Jan 25, 2016, RNK wrote: Don't use me that way, RNK. I haven't said that the given ruler is sufficient. And I said the point I referred to (extreme weather conditions in both hot and cold temps) was a fundamental one in the proposed climate change concept. ie. The proposed climate change concept accounts for extreme weather in both temperature directions. More rain (precipitation) more fire. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/ener......s-worse/ "Whenever the East Coast sees an extreme snow event, the weather is perfect for snow trolling — e.g., trying to use one cold event to refute a warming climate trend. In this case that’s particularly inappropriate, though, because if anything, extreme snowfall may actually be enhanced by global warming. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but remember that even in a warming world, our hemisphere will still spend part of the year tilted away from the sun, with shorter days and colder temperatures — and winter storms. The question scientifically, then, is what happens to those storms in a warmer world. So let’s examine what science can say about that question. Technically, the storm about to slam the Northeast is called — that’s right — a nor’easter. What’s special about these storms is that they draw their energy from a temperature clash between freezing Arctic air on the one hand, and warmer Gulf Stream waters on the other. Which, in turn, means a warming ocean could potentially intensify winter nor’easters.... That does not, of course, mean the current storm is caused by climate change. Rather, says Mann, it means that climate change may make certain aspects of the event worse, such as its snowfall." |

Laurie, the climate models are nonlinear and sensitive to initial conditions. Hence the butterfly effect. That's about a difference of one butterfly. Make that one truck on the road. Bigger impact. Multiply that by seven billion people lighting candles. Okay now what? Put out that candle?
