Anyone ever have a problem with the audience seeing the reflection of the red ball in the tube? If so, any ideas on eliminating the problem, or do I just have to work on my delivery/performance? I was actually thinking of painting the inside of the tube black, but was hoping for some confirmation that this is a sane thing to do before attack the tube with my spray can.

Yes, I took black tape and taped the top inside so that the reflection could not be seen. Painting might work too.

Dave I actually sprayed mine flat black and it improved the reflection to zero.

Brown packing tape will do the same job as
Ken suggests. |

Dave,
I bought my Stratosphere from my local dealer. He helped me put black electrical tape on the top inside of the outer tube before I left the shop. I have never had a reflection problem using this method. Sounds like flat black paint will work as well. Another shameless plug for supporting your local magic shop!!! |

I also would either spray it flat black or use some black tape to tape the top section of the tube. Both should work ok.

A strip or two of black electric tape will do the trick.

You may find the best tape for this and many other uses in Black Gaffers tape. It can be found in any good photographic supply store and is made by Bogan. It is about 2 inches wide and very flexible.

I have never had that problem. The kids are usually on the floor and my stratosphere is up to high to see reflections. I can sure see this being a problem if people are high enough in relation to the tube to see the reflection.
I think I will paint the interior of mine as well. Sure couldn't hurt!
