It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I report on the loss of another magic legend.  This morning, at the age of 102, John Calvert passed away in California.

Don't if anyone knew this cat. I did. What a story. Find him on Google. You'll be impressed.

I think that you meant 1911 - 2013. He truly lived a magical life.

I got a chance to meet him at a lecture about 4-5 years ago before he had a stroke. What an amazing guy. He was in great shape at the time. He passed around a list of famous people he had worked with in movies, his famous friends or stars he had performed for. Then he would tell you the stories about working with the celebrity or how he had met them. And then there were the stories of his plane crash in the Pacific and other adventures. It was like a who's who of Hollywood and magic from the 1940s through the 1980s. John was amazing. I feel to blessed to have met him and his lovely wife. Even in his 90s, he was such a great entertainer. His spirit cabinet routine was hilarious!

His handling of the Dr. Q "hypnosis" act was legendary.

He will be missed, but his legend will live forever in the annals of magic.

A delightful man. He docked at a riverside port owned by friends of mine (yes, John Calvert was in rural Alabama) and I got a call to come meet somebody. I'd never heard of him (I was a 15 year old magician, so that's not surprising.), but he was astonishing, his wife stunning, and his boat quite something, as a side note. A truly remarkable experience.

A great person, and a legendary performer. May we all pay tribute to him in how we perform magic or mentalism.

Sad news. Hats off for Mr. Calvert. He will be honored.
