Here we go... I know that I'm going to step in it!
The people that were scammed out of their money were naive and stupid. That's their fault. Being an adult means making choices. Did any of you guys lose money in you 401k? If you did, you were scammed. And, I don't see anyone going to jail over that. Do you drink, smoke or play the lottery? Spend 4 bucks for coffee at Starbucks. How many times a day do you foolishly part with your hard earned money? Did the reader do something wrong? You bet your a@@ she did? But what she didn't do was hold a gun to anyone's head. If you spilled hot coffee on yourself, would you sue the establishment that sold it to you because it was too hot? Do you iron your clothes while wearing them (don't laugh, it's been done). The article refers to 'broken' people being taken advantage of. You're kidding me, where do live... in caves? I have, as I'm sure you have, met hundreds of people that have perfectly assembled facades. However, get to know them and you'll discover just how messed up they are. Give me a break. These folks were seriously taken advantage of. But did they do their due dilligence (sp?). Consult with friends or family? Seek outside advice in an area where they lacked expertise. Hell no. Anyway, that's some of my thoughts on the subject. Best, Scott p.s. Red John suspects... one down, six to go.
'Curiouser and curiouser."

Consider this:
A most respected Café reader strikes a relationship with a client. The client finds solice in the readings and willingly asks for more and more whereby spending more money. The reader of course feels they are providing a heck of a service deservedly so by virtue of the client telling the reader. Later the clients family members find out and immediately conclude their family member has been hornswaggled? They decide to prosecute. An overzealous prosecutor who needs to make a name for the next election takes the case. The respected Café reader goes to jail. Just a hypothetical but it could happen? |

What this lady was doing, which I don't agree with, was not selling something that could end up killing them! Everything that comes around-goes around. She would have gotten hers somehow. And it looks like she is going to get hers anyway. Though, I agree with others here- ultimately it is the consumers job to do his/her homework. I was badly burned before and it was no fault of the excellent pitch the salesman delivered to me. It was mine for not researching it better before buying! RNK

Analogy stands....
Selling something that you know is not fit for purpose and can easily cause harm. Mentally, physically and financially. There are millions of desperate people out there willing to try anything... Call them stupid or try and help them see sense...

The article says that other family members are being bought up on charges too!
So,the arguement of what this "Lady" was doing,is a bad analogy! It was what this collective was doing...

"As for critics who ridiculed Deveraux and said she was gullible for falling for the scam, she said: "I'm glad there are absolutely perfect people who can say that, people that have never made a mistake in their lives." Deveraux said people in abusive relationships and those who are grieving or suicidal are particularly vulnerable. "Someone comes along and gives you hope and you fall for it." She warned that customers should be wary of psychics or spiritual advisers who tell them to keep things secret: "That is the number one warning sign." Deveraux's advice to anyone in a similar vulnerable position: "Reach out to your friends, get professional help … don't go to a psychic."

But its not psychic, I go into why its not, there's a big bit on ethics in that booklet - and what to do and what not to do...so there's no comparison whatsoever...
and I certainly don't advocate this kind of behaviour...and if you don't know the difference(s)... here's a link for you in return: http://tinyurl.com/o82e5v4

...from PROFEIGN (not thought-paths, sorry)...
"But I'm not giving anyone any advice. I am sharing with the person how I see things using a particular oracle/system. (by using those terms I mean, I have a set of rules that do not change, and I apply them to the information I get via examining the tarot, writing, name, number, whatever). I take responsibility for all my words and actions. I use no Barnum or forer statements. Why? Because they can be too powerful, and self gratifying. They feed and offend the ego in equal measure. With that in mind, sometimes you do get some very heavy and intense readings, and again – its simple. You use the oracle to suggest to them to go speak to a doctor, a lawyer – you get the picture. Everything else is just them going through a philosophical approach, finding new ways to look at their usual thought processes.Everyone deserves to be listened to."

"QUESTION - will I have success in my new business this year?"
"ANSWER - its common to feel worried and be nervous of starting up a new venture - is it not the case that you should make sure your business plan has been looked at by a financial advisor? that everything is in order? this is about you making sure you've taken the best advice from the best people who specialise in such matters...". I answered the question, I did not give advice...

The proper analogy is this. You buy a television set. You're very pleased with your buy.
You get the box home and it's empty. You're puzzled. You're wondering what happened. The salesman sells you a better model. You're very pleased. You get the box home it is empty. You're puzzled. You're wondering what happened. The salesman sells you a better model. You're very pleased. You get the box home and it's empty. Are you a naive idiot by the third round? Yes. Were you happy at some point in that sequence? Yes. Is the salesman a crook? Yes.
