I resorted to wearing a white cloth glove. My gimmick is a torture machine on my hands, it hurts so much and don't work, and agree with the DVD, it's crap. Maybe I also have a dud. Everyone says how great it is and easy to use and don't hurt. I am finding the complete opposite. I did purchase a 2nd doll, it's still wrapped up in it's packaging, I might open it up now and see if it's the same.

I work a lot of trade shows and perform this several hundred times a week. My hand looks great. Really, if you are having that kind of problems, I think you are doing it wrong.

I've came to the conclusion my hands are more sensitive to most and softer. I've tried, gave it a good shot, but no good. Hurts to much, the last time I tried, it taken two days before the pain was gone. I'm making sure that I select the first layer of skin and not digging in to deep. Done this to the point that my skin breaks and the gimmick falls over. Also could not find a location where the gimmick would rise more than a cm or two the most.
I wish it did work for me. I would be very happy if this was the case, but you got to believe me, I gave this a good shot and spent many hours practicing, it's got to the point, I just could not bare with it any longer, when someone mentioned why don't I try gloves. Gloves work for me, but I can't really walk around with gloves in my pockets, and it kind of looks ridiculous with gloves on. I've never performed the effect outside of family members. If it worked for me, it would be in my pocket almost everywhere I visit. I've spoken to a friend that's a forensic investigator and she could not help and thinks it's a silly thing to do. |

Never had any issues with either the doll nor the DVD
Odd because I was making it rise immediately, almost instinctively shrug Shawn

I've never had a problem with any pain, maybe some hands are super sensitive or gouging is what's going on. It's definitely not forensically silly! Never had a problem with handing it out either as most people are too scared to even touch it.

Plus my DVD works fine but I've only used it on a computer using the VLC player. Haven't tried it on a STB and TV. Jim |

I seriously had a mate get tears in his eyes out of true amazement when the thing rose up. When he got me to do it again,on the left hand, he had to go outside for a cigarette, completely stunned and silent. One of the best reactions I've seen to anything. It's definitely my favourite non-card effect.

Quote: Silly question, but have you tried practicing using different areas on your hand? Reason I ask is when I first watched the dvd and tried placing it in the middle palm of my hand (like they did in the dvd), it didn't work for me and was a little painful. After trial and error I started experimenting using different parts of my hand and found an area that works great for me. I actually have tougher skin/calluses on my upper hand, just below where my fingers connect to my hand. This is MY sweet spot and everyone else can have their own sweet spot somewhere else on their hand. Just thought I would add that tid bit and hope it helps if you haven't tried it already.

Has anyone thought of using this in conjunction with Jim Critchlow's White Star? It could really help set the scene with regards to the black magic/other side element!

This has been out of stock for a long time we now have them back in and available.
You do need to find your sweet spot, I've seen a few people do this where their finger move quite a bit, if you do this your fingers need to stay still to really enhance the effect.

We'll long story short I did a "Hot Rod" routine for her. At the end of the routine she said "let me see that thing". Well I put it in my pocket and she insisted on seeing the hot rod. I said here I have no problem with you checking it out, and then I pulled out the non gimmick'd hot rod, and handed it to her. This happened over 25 years ago, and I can still see her trying to change the hot rod back by rubbing it. :0) I lost one of the gems to my non gimmick'd hot rod, so I haven't showed it for a long time. I liked having an out for that trick. I didn't need it a lot, but it was nice having it when needed. P.S I wonder what a non gimmick'e doll would cost ?

Hi
Check out these chicken feet! http://www.spellsandmagic.com/Chicken_Fe......uJu.html Scroll down to the bottom for the black foot. I'm going to make one of these and instead of waving my hand over the Haunted Doll, I'm going to wave a Voodoo Hoodoo chicken foot over it to cause it to rise. I'm working on the story now because I want to give this effect a nice spooky touch. Suggestions are welcome for my story. I was up until 2 am this mourning because my mind would't stop searching for the proper patter. I ended up taking an ambien so that I could fall asleep. With Easter right around the corner I was considering a Jesus rising from the dead story, but then I decided that was in bad taste. So I'm going with the idea of raising the haunted doll using the chicken foot. I'm going to pick up some feet and dry them in my food dehydrator. I think the black ones look the best . I'm gonna compare the cost of making one to the cost of just buying one.

If you take care of it, it will last you a LONG time. I can't see anything that would ware out. Just try not to sit on it, that would be a sure way to shorten it's lifespan. :o)

Here's a prop I made to go along with Haunted doll. It's a Voodoo chicken foot.
