Okay. The ideas are gettin low. All the books I want are out of print (or I've been unable to locate). Things such as.. By Forces Unseen, Carneycopia, Complete Works of Derek Dingle (got lucky to find), smoke & mirrors, impossibilia.. John Hamman's book.. the list goes on, but there's been so many I can't think of them.

Can anyone suggest good books, for cards.. intermediate difficulty (harder is fine, I'm not afraid to work for somethin) that are IN PRINT..?

I own Classic Magic of LJ, AOA 3 (don't like it), Encyclopedia of Card Tricks, RRTCM, Counts Cuts Moves & Subtlety, Card Control, Expert Card Technique, and Expert at the Card Table

(Yeah, I'm lacking)

I appreciate all input.

Some older books that I refer to all the time for great content are "The Card Magic of Le Paul" and Bill Simon's "Effective Card Magic". Both contain great routines and moves....

Is Card Magic of LePaul still in print? My local dealer didn't have any luck finding me a copy.

Chris, There's a copy of Smoke and Mirrors on ebay right now. Plus I think there is going to be a reprint coming out sometime next year. I was able to buy Impossibilia at Elmwood Magic, and I think I've seen it in a few other online magic stores. I was fortunate enough to get By Forces Unseen off ebay last week just waiting it to come in the mail.

Try tracking ebay for some of the out of print books that you want. Smile

Chris,

I would recomend an e-book that, while OOP in original hardcover edition, is in .pdf format and can be printed out to be just like the original. And, if spiral bound by Kinko's or other printer with a clear acetate front cover and a vinyl back cover (approx cost for the binding is $5.00), this book will be an even better reference work than the original hard cover edition in that it will lie flat and can be looked at as you practice the moves.

The book I am referring to is Doug Conn's "Tricks of My Trade", written by Paul Cummins (yes, THAT Paul Cummins of FASDIU fame). It is clearly written and the effects are KILLERS and magical and the handling would be moderate in difficulty. This is definitely "in your face" and "wet your pants" magic.

The book is 50-60% card magic. Some use simple gimmicks like DB card; some use no gimmicks at all. Most, it not all the gimmicks, can be rung in and rung out of an ordinary deck of cards.

I will PM'ed you with additioanl information and links if you like but the below-described link should be sufficient. Onhis web site, Doug has 5 video clips from effects in the book PLUS he is offering two free FULL explantions on-line of two of the effects in that book ("Scramble" and "Chameleon Sandwich"). Very clear explanations with lots of pictures.

All in all, a GREAT book to have.

Here's one link to get you started if you are interested: http://www.dougconn.com/products.htm. A Table of Contents can be found at: http://www.dougconn.com/tomtsample/tomtdetails.htm.

OH! And did I mention that Doug is running a special right now if you purchase before Christmas?

I am eagerly awaiting for my copy of this book to arrive. I will promptly print it out and have it spiral bound as suggested earlier.

Just IMHO.

Mike
