The cards are excellent; the accompanying booklet is not. There are (at least) two problems with the booklet.
First, the booklet reads like a first draft. Someone, anyone, needed to edit it. It may not have even profited by a single run of the software's spelling and grammar checker. The problem is compounded by the fact that the second author's first language is not English. Second, at least two of the effects require moves that are not explained. They could have been, but are not. The reader is simply referred to books which most readers may not own or have access to, to acquire the prerequisite knowledge. So, buy the cards for the cards. I must confess I too was thrown by the moves mentioned - some of which I have heard of but do not know how to do.
I will, though, be digging out my copy of Mind Novas by Stephen Minch. I seem to remember this has some excellent ESP card routines in it, some of which I used for several years. The cards though, are excellent and I can see myself investing in some more so I can make up a set of 25 or 30. |

One more annoying question before I order. How deceptive is the system compared to say, Beyond ESP (which I use). Will it stand up to inspection (like Beyond ESP)?
Thanks |

IMHO It will withstand inspection without having to worry.
Yet is easy to read when you know what to look for. Steve |

The quality of the cards is absolutely phenomenal. I don't think the markings are that deceptive personally but ill give them a few test runs and comment again.
I found the writing quality of both this and birthright leaving a bit to be desired. But at least this product comes with the actual cards, which again, are of phenomenal quality and thinness. |

OK, OK, seeing as how I met Paul at Mindvention and he seemed like a nice guy, was passionate about what he does and showed a sincere interest in me I just hit the PayPal button.

Upon reading some other post about the book etc. Doesn't matter to me. Not looking for routines. If you want routines look at Michael Murry Submodalities for stuff like jazz mentalism. Perfect for esp cards like Paul's or esp3. I like to have all the different cards. Nice to keep these in the wallet.
Not agreeing though that the book doesn't need to be top notch. It should be. But I don't need it. For $17 they are a steal alone. |

Thanks for the interest, kind words and the feedback guys!
I have asked many knowledgeable mentalists/magicians to find the marking system and not many could find it...those that did were not able to do so quickly (they always seem to look in the wrong spot!). I've had some non-magician friends who are aware of marked cards study the backs to find marks but couldn't. It's one of those things that when you know it's there you can't miss it, but it's almost undetectable when you don't know what to look for. The routine Ran Pink and I contributed to the booklet is a solid, tested routine of which I've included three variations, in case one is unfamiliar with the fairly common move it requires. The moves listed in the routine and variations are not taught (as this is not the purpose of this manual) but there are references listed to learn these simple and common moves. Anyone unfamiliar with the two books listed as reference would benefit greatly from reading them. Two of Pablo Amira's routines are contributed as well. It's true that English is Pablo's second language, and this is reflected in his writing voice. I did not change any of the wording Pablo contributed because I did not want to alter any part of the message. Also, his routines are published in his own books of which I've read many favorable reviews, further indicating that the language barrier was not a major issue. Anyone reading these routines will certainly understand the author's point. It was mentioned above that the cards alone are worth the price of admission, and in my biased opinion I wholeheartedly agree! |

I used these cards for an effect this afternoon. They handle like a dream.
I have also been re-reading various ESP card effects. Bob's Your Uncle featured in Doug Dyment's Mindsights is a particular gem. Also, given the thin but durable nature of these cards, it could be good if Paul thought about other design or card sets that could be reproduced on this type of card. As I mentioned before, he has hit on a winner here and one which I am sure can be taken further. Thanks again Paul. |

Not to derail this thread, but BirthRight will be available in 100% plastic very soon (not the same stock as the Wallet Zener cards thought). Also, all of the Mental Voyage cards will be available in a 2.0 version that are 100% plastic (again, not the same stock as the Zener cards).

I hesitated, but decided I should make the following points.
Paul, the main purpose of good editing is NOT to "change the meaning;" it is to communicate the author's intended meaning more clearly than most writers can do without the aid of a skilled editor. Virtually everyone who writes anything for publication needs an editor and that, even more, includes people writing in a language other than their native tongue. Mental Voyage's first manuals were well done--clear instruction, among the best in Mentalism. I am aware, of course, that in this manual the writers did not intend to teach the necessary moves; I was suggesting they should have. George |

I received these a few days ago and yes, they are perfect for the wallet. As far as the ma**ings go, so easy to see and very deceptive. The only caution I must advise is to maybe carry them in a coin envelope in your wallet as the backs tend to scratch. Nothing major just a suggestion. I've yet to really go through the book as I have my own routine for these but again, money well spent.

These cards are great and I like them a lot. They are very thin and made from durable plastic, not just coated, but plastic all the way through. Perfect.
The design is simple and elegant. The faces are the standard white with black shapes and the backs are a simple black design. Best of all though is the marking system. It is very easy to get a read. Easiest I've seen actually and I've seen a few but it's also very well hidden. These are going straight into my wallet and I highly recommend them. Great work Paul. Best Sean |
