A local amateur astronomer took this stunning 3d panorama of a public observing site at Black Nugget Lake, about an hour from Edmonton.

Quote:
Black Nugget Lake at Night
It was so calm that night that the stars in the lake were reflected as brightly as the stars in the glass in the vehicle in this picture. Light pollution from Edmonton can be seen behind the vehicle, while very dim aurora combines with light pollution from a nearby town to the left of the lake. My telescope is to the right of the lake.
.

Apparently the full res version is even better, but is too big to put online.
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.--Yeats

That is absolutely stunning, thank you John.
When we go to Northumberland for short breaks, we see a similar view. Nowhere near
as beautiful as that, but lovely nonetheless.
The lack of light pollution, and a load of beer, makes for a type of late night relaxation
that is hard to beat.

What do we want?
A cure for tourettes!
When do we want it?
