Jonathan,
Glace Seche sells dry ice (and yes that is the name of the company). They are up on the 13. It often comes in small bags (just bigger than a popsicle). For small amounts you could ask their sales who they distrubute to. I also bought some from Cara Foods who supplied the airlines (this is the type of place that may be more willing to sell you small amounts.). Blair (P.S. For others on the thread I am giving some local references for jlevey)

Thanks, Blair! I should have just picked up the phone and called you. I believe Cara Foods went out of business a few years back --or at least was taken over by another airline food supplier. So, I will keep your info on "Glace Seche" located on autoroute 13 handy, and try to visit them in the next week or two. Frankly, I like the fact that their dry ice comes in small bags (size of a popsicle), but I hope I don't forget and try to lick the stuff! :0 lol. .
Again, thanks a lot. Jonathan

What do you guys (and gals?) think of my also purchasing th edvd showing the construction of the SSS device by Lim?
http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/3202 Lots of negative reviews posted on the Café a while back, but at the same time the device seems small and likely to be a possible solution for my particular needs and allow me to avoid doing dry ice runs prior to my shows, and touching my tongue to the dry ice by mistake I really do not care that the SSS DVD is reported to be very repetitive, since I learn well with repetition. Has anyone out there in Magic Café land, reading this particular thread used this device and if so, can you see it working for my Crystal Silk Cylinder needs... or not. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=218

I'm not sure if Galce Seche is not Air Liquide, or Paxair now. Both distribute dry ice. It is also used for machine shops and some applications. Cara did go out of business, but there is a new food handler in the same building. They use the smaller packs as it is for airline food services.

Thanks Blair. Great info. The company, "Glace Seche" (French for "dry ice"), seems like it is located relatively close to your home. Hmmm.... would you consider doing a dry ice delivery run, next time you're in my neighbourhood? ....for a consulting fee, of course! lol
I still would like to consider the e-cigarette/sss device by Lim prior to playing around with dry ice. I'lll see if pother members have input/comments to share on this possible alternate method, and if not, I will order the DVD online. I believe it comes with a hard to find device, and the other "elements" can be found in local hardware stores. Jonathan

Update: I have gone ahead and ordered the SSS DVD by Lin to see how the e-cig device might work and adapt to my prop.
Thanks to all those that have contributed their valued input, to date. Jonathan

Late to the game, but what about a small plate lifter with a minute amount of baby powder either stuck on the back of the tube, or an ear syringe connected to a hollow wand with the aforementioned powder?

You are thinking out of the cylinder, for sure Brody... I mean "box"! ...what's a "plate lifter"?

Plate lifter - Think bulb, tube and inflatable bladder.
Richard - I love the "Zero Wizard Stick" idea...heck, for $25 it's worth buying just to play around with.

Thanks for the clarification, Richard. I now can recall the plate lifting ruse. Jonathan

Sorry about the misnomer, Steve. You must be Steve Stanyon! :0 Thanks for your input on this thread. I am guessing that it was at one of the conventions or at Chuck Hickok's lecture that we met up, so many years ago. Nice to see you again... in cyberspace!

It was an Alliance Funds conference, October 1989, you and Maxine were working in mime. You gave me your business card, I made it vanish, you responded verbally (while in mime/whiteface), we had a good laugh.
Cheers! Steve Taylor
