Has anyone else built a die box to fit a child? Good idea, very funny, but the lifting is a bit much. Doesn't exactly pack small either.
Yet I can't help but see the potential. |

Copperfield did it with a duck and a man hiding inside, so the idea of using a giant Die Box with living things is not unappreciated. There are other options to "tilting" it, or even lifting it. You could teeter-totter the thing. Of course, the child does not really have to slide around, just create the image that he is.
What was your idea for it? |

The idea came from 'Karson's a la die box' in the book My Best.
So the child does slide across and is seen through the clear middle bit as they go past. Using classic illusion design, both doors can be shown open (briefly) and all the way through at the same time. No motivation for the tilting of course, and I'd need a change of material or have it on a seesaw to prevent a hernia. Perhaps if I have something on top of the box I need to move from side? I don't know, but I do think it could be a great kids party illusion. |

If you are using the design provided in "My Best", you could get the illusion of moving from a rope running through the box from side to side. Also add little doors or openings in each of the cabinet front doors from which the person inside can wave his hand at the audience. Pull on rope that runs through the cabinet, and the person waves out of the other side, and back and forth. Then pull the rope all the way out, open all the doors and show that the person has vanished. To avoid having the cabinet scrutinized, the person must reappear from someplace else almost immediately. Have you worked that one out yet?
