Personally, I found them thought provoking and well worth the time to read them. But my opinion on books and such has changed quite a bit from what it used to be. I believe that everything I read contributes. If there's one thing we don't need is more tricks. Not that more and new tricks aren't good, but I think considering more points of view -- and Riggs presents that -- is more valuable in the long run than learning a new variation on some classic of mentalism. John is a working performer who knows his stuff (and is, part time, a magic devices creator too).
Not only that but I have always found John very helpful and dependable when you buy something from him, be it a book or one of his TERRIFIC insects! And I completely agree with John LeBlanc (well, at least in part) when he says that reading John's books is thought provoking. He always come up with some new twist or combo of ideas even when speaking about classic known routines.

Cannot recommend John's books enough. Ranks right up there with the 'good stuff' from Becker and Richard Webster.
Very practical and to the point--with great presentation ideas--and his great humour. Brandon |

Riggs is the man. Get everything he puts out. I love so much of his thinking and effects that I've practically threatened him for letting others see his stuff.
You'll find amazing presentations, bizarre effects, great tips, beautiful routines and some funny bits and pieces. Get it all from Riggs. Greg

Mr Riggs works are something that we can all learn from....
He gives you the 'real work' without the real work. I bite my hand, but I have to say his words are worth reading over and over. And ten times the price...
Only one man can see what is before him...

I actually have a few of John's books. If you are tired of carry around a ton of props, chasing after the newest latest must have book or effect, and want strong material that packs small and plays big, his stuff is what you are looking for between John's material and a few of Bob's ebooks, you could start a religon and do very well!!

John's books? Great stuff.
Get them all. At one point I think John put many (if not all) out on a CDs. Don't know if that was a limited release for PEA members only though. |

I always end up with a self-inflicted bruised head when I chat with John. I'm always going (smack!)"geez, why didn't I think of that!!!!"
His stuff is always--always--direct and to-the-point. Buy all of his books. Why? Because they're addictive. Buy one, and you'll just want the rest. So, save yourself and just get them all. |

John's works are a very good read. Get ready to spend a chunk of change printing them out as John clearly has a passion for large fonts. The content is interesting. Also check out his books for the shuteyes available on AMAZON.

Go to Denny & Lee's at http://www.dennymagic.com
One thing I like about them is they carry a lot of books not found elsewhere |

John is a very clever man, and a true pleasure and inspiration to talk to, or to read.
