Hi all!
My name is Sam, and I'm excited to glean from the experience here! I've been performing magic (NOT professionally) for about eight years, but don't have as much time to devote to it as I once did. I am still very much an amateur. But I do enjoy every minute I get to spend on it! So, thanks in advance for all the advice and suggestions I'm sure to get in the future! Sam |

Welcome samaroo,
Lots of people wish they had more time to devote to their Magic. Remember that you can do some mental practice and Magic really benefits from increased powers of visualization. That can make some small bits of time more fun and useful if you find any flying around. What is your current interest in Magic? -Mary Mowder |

I mostly do card magic. It's what I started with, and it's easy to carry a deck around (which I usually do.) I'm in the Navy, and have found that in different parts of the world, people don't relate to cards as readily as here in America, so I've branched out a little. I like some basic mentalism, very basic coin stuff, table top tricks, stuff like that.
I'd like to take it to the next level, but with my work schedule right now, I just can't commit to the really hard stuff. I have trouble keeping up with the intermediate stuff I already "know." I've been working on and off on the pass since 2006, and still can't do it! But I really enjoy performing, usually to my friends, but especially when I'm out, just walking up to random people in restaurants or bars, or on the street. I'm in it for the great reactions, I guess. I'm in San Diego right now, and have only been able to find one magic shop in the area, which is really a costume shop with a small counter of tricks, and nobody there really knows any magic. Does anyone here know of somewhere I don't know about here? It seems odd that such a large city would have one mediocre shop. Anyway, thanks for the welcome, Mary. Glad to be here! -Sam |
