I am looking for the source of an effect that I believe is called "Metaphysic".
I have the props and, ages ago, I have performed it. The props are a deck of alphabet cards, and a laminated sheet with many words on it including: aries, amulet, coven, cusp, cult, jinx, jupiter, lucky, magic, wizard, etc.. The sheet is given to a spectator and they mentally select a word. The spectator takes the deck of cards and, unseen, removes the cards that spell their word. The deck and sheet are handed back to the mentalist, while the spectator keeps their cards. The word is divined correctly. About the time I was toying with this effect, I was performing Fate by Simon Aronson very frequently as well. I think that I selected that trick over this one. When I found the props, thought I would give it another whirl, but could not find instructions. It is probably in a book, and probably not Aronson. These props are likely home-made, though they are of good quality (especially for the 90's). This effect is an i***x effect like Fate. I can provide more information and images if needed. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide. Ben |

It sounds very similar to Seak by Phil Goldstein (Max Maven) and is found in his book "Thabbatical".

Spellblinder by Jerry Sadowitz? Something like that. This sounds like the same effect, but Jerry's was nicely made.
