This past week I've been playing with 2 very clever and entertainnig effetcs. Th first is "The Blackpool Effect" off Sankey "Real Work in Bars and Restaurants". Basically you write a prediction on the top of the deck, spread cards to show they're all normal and have them point to a card. Turn the deck over and that's the prediction you wrote. You then remind them that you wrote it on the say 6 of Diamonds, pick it up and magically change the card with the prediction in to their card. Great feat of mentalism followed by a magical transformation. The second effect I'v ebeen having great fun with is "The Anhilation Deck" by Cameron Francis. Here you show all cards to be normal and random, have the spec picks a card (any card) and lay it face down on the table. I then go and pick 2 prediction cards and say that their card contains one of the suits and one of the values of the prediction card. Of course when they turn their card over it looks like I screwed up becasue it doesn't contain the value or suit of my prediction cards. I then flip both my prediction cards over and one has the suit and one the value of their chosen card written on the back
Great effects! |

Hey Zack. Thanks for posting those. I blew people away all night with them, woke up and wrote an impulsive post.
These 2 effects are crazy easy and will fry people. If you haven't tried them do yourself a favor and get on it! |

That's how I feel sometimes too.
I would take the plunge. Even though there are different outcomes, you don't have ruin any cards in the performance. Tell me if you buy it and if you like it! Zack :bluebikes: |

Anhilation deck actually gave me a whole new perspective on The "stack" that we all know. Also, I love it when the spec's feel I've been defeated (prediction went totally wrong). That looks comes over their face like they're enjoying watching me fail. Like they've finally outsmarted the magician. Then BAM...you flip over each card only to see the value written on one card and the suit on the other. There's somethign intrinsically satisfying about being the underdog then slamming the kicker. Kind of like when I perform "Envylope". I do an ACR that's gone awry (their card does not appear at the top in an apparent mishap). I then ask if they remember the envelope from the beginning and ALAKAZAAM (Not magical words I ever use by the way) teh whole deck transforms in to the envelope contaiing their signed card. A table of adults said it "scared them" and told me I made Blaine look like an amateur (which Im sure I would not).

Especially when my audience feels bad for me, this makes the kicker at the end all the more powerful! (rarely though has anyone shown me empathy if I "fail". It is more likely that spectators would be happy that the magician failed. But of course, this gives the magician more satisfaction once you finish the effect and are successful.) I love how audiences compare us to the magicians they have seen on TV, and tell us that we are better. Its an encouragement, but once they see them perform in person their opinion could possibly change. |

But you are right. Sucker tricks are amazing. Another reason why I adore "Silk To Egg" as well. |
