I have all is been interested in magic since a young age but never really knew were to start. I have purchase some gimmick tricks from time to time, but didn't find that fulfilling. I wanted to learn how to use regular objects to perform tricks. What really got me interested was coin magic. So I started researching what book I should get to learn the basics of magic and I came across the magic Café. I found a lot of good information here and decided I should join. So fare I have purchased Mark Wilson's complete course in magic book. I don't think I will get to the level of involvement that I will need the Tarbell courses. I all so have Modern coin magic and Modern Coin Manipulation. I haven't gotten very far into the coin books yet. So far I have been trying to get good at the palms. Right now I'm having trouble with front finger hold switching to back palm, I just can't keep a hold of it. Anything I could do to help build dexterity in this area?

Welcome to the Café. I'm sure if you search the forum topics, you'll find some good advice on dexterity.

Welcome Yngvar,

Dallas is right, the coin crowd does not hang out in new arrivals so go to "Nothing up My Sleeve" forum in the "Show Me the Money" Section and ask there.

You are entering a discipline that does require a lot of practice to build muscle memory, strength and dexterity.

A little at a time will help you avoid carpal tunnel problems and the like. If you over do it you may have to stop for days to recover.

Good luck!
