To preserve Clinton Detweiler's contribution to the art, Maher Studios is releasing the Maher Course - Detweiler Version, on Kindle. These Kindle books will maintain the original flavor of the course, along with all of the original booklet artwork. Each lesson will be a separate ebook, so you can pick and choose, or collect them all. If you want to graduate from the course, you can even register them on the Maher Studios web site.

What is the total cost of the kindle version for all the lessons, and are there any differences from the original version ?

The Kindle version is Clinton's New Millennium Edition which was released in 2002. He had made updates to the course for that version. Originally we were going to make revisions to the course to update the material. During that process, Mark, Ken & I decided that we wanted to preserve Clinton's era rather than make too many changes, so we decided to release it for posterity. Since the booklets were expensive to print and warehouse, we opted for Kindle.

Each lesson, when released, will cost $4.99 - which brings the course in line with Clinton's sale price. Sales will benefit Adelia Detweiler.

So in essence, there are some revisions, but if you have the New Millennium Edition, you have the material. If you don't, you can pick and choose if you want to see any of the differences.

Maher Ventriloquist Studios will be coming out with a new course - Maher Interactive. This will be a major change in the way ventriloquism is taught - and more will follow on that later.

How will the Maher interactive course differ from your own course?

We aren't ready to release all the details on Maher Interactive - but it will be different and I'm really excited about the potential!

Thanks, Tom. So would you recommend both? I found your course very good, but if I would learn more or different skills then I would be tempted.

In my humble opinion I believe you can never learn too much. To this day I still observe other teaching techniques because everyone has something different to offer and you may find that you learn a lot from one course, then another course will introduce a method that helps you improve on a weaker point you might have in a particular aspect.

Keep your mind open to all techniques

We'll be teaching in a new way and I think the material will benefit both new vents and those who want to brush up on their skills. This was the first time three professional vents sat down to discuss their techniques and boiled it down to the essence of the art.

I think your own course is great.
My only beef with it is the inability to have it on disk.

I spend a lot of time in eastern europe, in parts where I have no internet access, and it means a long wait before I can get home and look at the course again.
It is really so frustrating.
I would say that's where the Maher course scores higher, as I'm able to carry the audio tapes with me.

I have been asked by many people to distribute the course on video. I encourage those folks to seek out the numerous DVD and video methods already out there. The time delay method of teaching has worked extremely well. I'm very proud of the students who go through the course, they have mastered the techniques in a very short time thanks to virtual coaching. I'm often told that past DVD and video lessons just haven't created the same impact.

The new Maher Interactive will also require an Internet connection - we originally planned to record Clinton's New Millennium edition as audios, but opted to head in a different direction.
