Hi folks,
I'm interested in mental magic rather than serious mentalism per se, but there appears to be no part of the Café devoted to mental effects in the same way as there is for cards, coins, ropes etc. Am I missing something, or are mental magic and mentalism combined here? |

What exactly are you interested in?
No separate forum devoted to Mental Magic. |

It may morph in and out of existence but you'll find quite a bit of what you seek in the very forum you posted your question. Nor will you have to look that hard or long!

Thanks for the input: it seems like this is the place for mental magic as well as mentalism, but I should be clear in my posts that I'm looking for the one rather than the other.
I ask because I want to avoid blurring the line between the two, which a number of threads here have denigrated (and I tend to agree). It seems to me that whilst many methods overlap, pretty much every other aspect is different. |

I'm sure that, if you phrase your questions and ideas carefully, letting people know that you mean "mental magic," that you'll be fine. Penny is probably the best place for it, as Inner Thoughts is more suited to "mentalism" than to "mental magic."

Many of us would rather move all mental discussions to Inner Thoughts. To risk exposure of mental magic here could hurt our performances, regardless what we call ourselves or what we do. We try to be careful in the Penny forum which means you won't get full answers like in Inner Thoughts. If you stay in Penny ask for PM's to get more complete responses. For example, if you were to ask in Penny what items I use most for DD's, I wouldn't tell you. Nor would I explain the acronym "DD" because this is a publicly searchable forum and most guys who do web searches for "DD's" aren't looking for mentalism. I'd hate for them to stumble onto a secret. (As a mind reader I can tell it most of your thinking right now.)

Too bad my last post wasn't grammatically correct. You're vs. Your. the voice recognition on my phone has a lawn weigh to go.

It's nice to laugh in the Café, for a change. Ordering another round.
