You are welcome Pop and Satellite. Postman's book is from 1985, and he dealt mostly with the impact of television on public discourse. In light of today's information technology, Postman's critique is even more startling.

One his main concerns before he died was getting hold of the new Biro ball point pens. The doctors had taken his typewriter away.

*smacks head* Not at all, Larry. Duh... probably because I've been reading Uris lately.
You are correct, Ira Levin was the author. A lesser known but just as powerful novel on dystopian society.

I'll never forget reading "Rosemary's Baby!" (that was before they made the movie).

There was a horrible play on TV last night, called Shank. London 2015. Good but disturbing.

I did a magic consultancy on Franklin and Bash, and got to meet Malcolm McDowell. He was a hero since Caligula and Clockwork Orange.

I am a fan of Malcolm McDowell. I am not sure what it is I like about him.

I am reading George Orwell a Life by Bernard Crick. It has many of his personal letters etcetera in it and he reminds me of Lenardo Di Vinchi, in the way he thinks, notiing the smallest detail, even when he is dying.

I've made slow but steady progress through the book. I'm about halfway through. I'm currently reading the part where Winston is reading Goldstein's big book.
And I just started Christmas/New Year's break, so I'll have a bit of time to read now. |
