The December 2013 MUM marks the end of Scott Alexander's exceptional column entitled "On the Shoulders of Giants" explaining Denny Haney's philosophy of performing as well as some of his greatest routines.
What a treasure trove of practical, priceless material was captured in these columns! Thanks to Scott for writing the columns, thanks to Denny for sharing his coveted material and thanks to Michael Close for recognizing the value in preserving the art of Denny Haney. |

I agree this was one of the best series in recent years in MUM. Scott did a very nice job putting Denny down on paper. Having known Denny for many years, I know what a wealth of information an graduate of the school hard knocks he is. I once saw him kill one hour when the power went out during his college show doing but one effect from the show during the power outage.
This was a good start but the book needs to be done. Last summer, I worked with Puck, Scott and Denny during rehearsals of the Canvas Covered Box at Abbott's. Trust me there is a lot more knowledge in that smiling toothy old gentleman that needs to be preserved. Well Done!!!!
