This is an upscale Brazilian Steakhouse.
Has anyone here ever had a meal there? Please share with me your experience if so. I'm looking to host an event there. http://www.fogodechao.com/locations/ |

It is great.
Everything is buffet, except the meat. You do not have one server of meat, but many who are constantly circulating, carrying different kinds of meat. Whenever you want some meat to be cut onto your plate, you have something on your table that signals them. If you want something that the staff who comes to your table does not have, either in type of meat or "done-ness", the correct person is promptly brought to your table. I assume the tips are divided equally among the waiters (I use that term very loosely). The service is excellent, and the customer is treated with class and care. And the food is great. It is very expensive, as well. If you want "class" in your event, you will find it here. It is a kind of "exciting" place for those who have never been there, as the service method is so different. The process is well-explained by the initial staff person who greets you, and it is very easy for someone who has never been there before to catch on. I think it would be a great experience.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Gonna be in DC between Christmas and New Years and I see they have one there. I've been to several Brazilian style steakhouses and it's great stuff. Definitely gonna pay a visit to the one in DC. Thanks for the post!

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

I've been to the ones in Vegas and Boston. I've haven't been overwhelmed, but I haven't been disappointed. It definitely connotes a certain atmosphere -- it's neither good or bad in the abstract, but it might or might be what you want for your event. And there are the other logistical considerations -- the location, the parking, etc. But if all you're asking about is the food and service, both are solid.
(Why not make a scouting trip? If you're hosting an event related to your profession, you can write the scouting trip off on your taxes. ) |

I thank you most kindly Chessman! That's what I was hoping for.
Yes, it's quite expensive, but when I saw the menu items and portions, I understood. Enjoy your meal Bob! Thanks for the feedback. There is a video on the lower right at the front page. I didn't catch that the first time. Yummy, I can't wait! Yes Mobility, it will be written of as a business expense. I already scouted the place yesterday. I'm going to head over for a few drinks on Thurs. |

Thanks everyone for the opinions.
The exotic salad bar was simply amazing. I love Brazilian Hearts of Palm, not to mention the 16 different cuts of meat. Although I never eat pork, I did marvel at the delicious smells of each of them as they made their way to our table. The wine selection was worthy of the many awards as well. I did scowl at the ladies who left nearly full goblets of the delicious merlot. The staff was super attentive, professional, and spotless. I was thanked profusely and the very comfortable Rolls Royce Limousine was a nice touch as well. We will definitely be going back next year. |

Interesting. It reminds me a little of the Gentleman's Clubs here, where everything is buffet like but it's a tradition for a member to carve the joint at their daily dinners.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

They start you off with a plate called a "Caliente"
Sort of an appetizer combo. My advice is "Don't Eat It." It's a combo of mashed potatoes with cheese and chives, two fried bannanas, and fried polenta in the form of fries with parmesan cheese. Skip the fillers and head straight for the salad before before you commence to dine on the extensive meat selection. Garlic steak and the lamb cuts were my favorite. Make sure that you pace yourself, but I guarantee that you will not be hungry when you leave there Bob. Enjoy! |

Ditto what Chessman said Dev, and you were right on about the Caliente. But I did sample the fried polenta and it was very good. I also like hearts of palm and these were some of the best I've had. The basil dressing at the salad bar was superb. The marinated hitachi mushrooms were wonderful.
The meats were pretty much as described by y'all. My favorites were the various cuts of beef, the ultra rare stuff that I thorougly enjoy. And you were right about the garlic sirloin; fantastic. I wasn't fond of the pork ribs or the lamb, and I typically enjoy these. The ribs had a different kind of flavor, perhaps from different seasoning, and the lamb just didn't work for me. Probably because I like it rarer than they served it. The wines were wonderful and reasonably priced. And you're right Dev, I did not leave hungry. You can eat as much as you want. They encourage you to! We looked at the dessert menu and that was inviting, but we figured we could do without the carbs! Thanks again for the OP!
