I love the Super X! I only wish I could find just the gimmick. Even that, they go for over $100. So much can be done with just that. Remember The Floating Box?

You could probably have a local metal working shop fabricate one for ya.

That's really not too terrible, considering what you can do with it. Aaaaand... you'll be able to customize it to your specific needs for performance/packing/transport. A hundred bucks is not bad at all.

I guess you're right T...plus it incorporates a slightly new design. I have short legs...if that makes sense. I have all these ideas in my head, and no .damn money! LOL!

The beauty of this particular inexpensive version, even over the Blaney ladder, is that you can remove the board totally, so you really have a floating girl and not a "floating board" The clips included can catch to rare earths are a good replacement. Watch your angle/depth problems on this too.

Ask Jimmy Fingers his fantastic solution for the supports!

I love my Sommers Walk-Away Suspension, the “guts” are exactly Jack Gwynne’s, who developed it way back when, and used with his permission.

There are drawbacks, and some improvements need to be made, including cosmetic ones. but the basic set-up is practical and pretty great.

You need a fairly large stage, it has to be pretty far up against the curtain (like the Blamey’s) and there are sometimes balcony issues. It’s not for home use like Chair Suspensions, more limited.

All that taken into consideration, it’s one of the best out there. And the price for what you get can’t be beat. Jim is now in his mid-eighties I think, so who know how much longer they’ll be around.

For the longest time, I was extremely happy with this illusion. The only issue I ever had with the Walkaway was the weight limitation of the illusion. It was only for that reason that I upgraded to the Blaney 3001 Suspension. It cost significantly more, but it can easily take the weight of an adult female audience member. Walter has also put in a lot of attention to detail that makes the illusion extremely deceptive.

I picked up a classic "Super-X" from Dick Oslund. I haven't used it yet on stage, but will on May 31st...as long as the venue doesn't present too many angle issues.

My problem with the wonderful 3001 Suspension v.s. the Sommers, is that the Blamey’s are really "floating boards" rather than a floating person.

That detail really bothers me, it calls to some connection. With Walk-A-Way versions the board is removed with the supports and the person is floating in the air unsupported.

My assistant was 110lbs and there was very little sag. Magically, Walt

David Charvet has recently posted video from his collection of Jack Gwynne performing his 'Miracle From India' suspension.

I used the Proline NPK Suspension, which has some excellent features, for a custom show. Currently for sale. PM if interested. Here is a video of it in action: https://youtu.be/ghed3fibFXA
