Ha.... I saw this performed by a Russian Magician friend of mine a while ago, he claimed it was the first street performance EVER to use a borrowed glass & bill, however his glass was about the size of a jar or so. I found it by luck and thought it was released a long time ago, surprised to see it just released.
I thought Magicians and thread workers here would know how this illusion is done, if not a history of stuff clsoe to it.....susprisingly everyone is just lost as I am here....even though I'm just a beginner in thread work (not saying that this is a thread based illusion), but when you see the words "STEVE Fearson" you automatically assume its thread. But WOW no thread involved in the basic method O_o ?! I'll be ordering mine VERY soon, I'm IN LOVE with Steve Fearson's proudcts, love every bit of them and I always fee like I recieved more than my money's worth, I believe this time it will be no different. I won't wait to say Kudos to Mr. Fearson as I don't think this genius's product will ever disappoint me ! Waiting for the reviews ! |

I got my copy today and have looked at the video.
The method is quite clever and is really not that hard even for a beginner to learn, with practice of course. The effect is pretty much limited to the glass. But I could see one doing some thread work first, using any effects that are available. Then go into this effect making it impossible to associate thread with the effects. The basic method is hands on, but the hands off method uses the same method as the basic, but with one element added. I will be doing the advanced once I get the basic down pat. The video is a download once you get the effect. You get a password in the package to get the download. Steve covers everything quite well in the video. Nice effect for the price. And you get everything you need, (except the glass and the bill). Phil BTW, there is not any thread in the glass ever. |

Very clever how this is performed, when I first watched the video I had a bit of a laugh at how simple this was, you'll wonder, why didn't I ever suspected that.
The gimmick is very clever. |

Any limitations in performance venues?

The thing is, the gimmick has some modifications to it that makes the note perform some incredible maneuvers, such as spinning inside the wine glass, after I first watched the video, I was confused how did that note spin inside the glass, It's not until I watched the video again that I realized the slight modification on the gimmick caused the bill to spin.

You will need to watch your viewing angles. The advanced version would be perfect for stage or dim environments, the addional prop used to perform the advanced techniques is why you need to watch your lighting. |

How impromptu is this? Is it something I could carry around and preform on a whim with a random bill and glass?

All you need is a wine glass and note, the gimmick is very easy to add and remove, can be done right in front of the spectators. Note can be handed out after performing the trick. If it's anything like here where I live, wine glasses are very easy to come by, Just about all venues have wine glasses. By the way, the spinning of the note I mentioned in my post earlier today is part of the basic version. The spinning of note can be accomplished under any environment. The only difference between Basic and Advanced method is the Advanced method the rising and lowering of note as well as spinning note can be performed away from the wine glass. Hence remotely controlled. That's the only difference between the two that I can see. |

Steve shows this using a wine glass, because of the wider bowl. I haven't played around with it yet, so not sure how other glasses will work. You would of course need one so that the crumbled bill has room to move around. You could perform the basic and advanced with borrowed objects. Phil |

I can't imagine how confused everyone that has not watched the video must be by now.
I just watched the performance part of the video again, and yes, spinning of the note can easily be performed in the advanced mode. It's a simple technique to accomplish, but from what I can see needs to be performed with a wine glass. |
