Rehab by Cameron Francis is worth a butchers, and cheap too. For a flash restoration it's got to be Brent Bruan Torched and Restored.

Another vote for Torched & Restored by Brent Braun. I also like The Reformation by Guy Hollingsworth, Torn by Daniel Garcia and Heinstein's Dream by Karl Hein.

The only one I've ever seen that looks like real magic is Hollingworth's. Not quite as hard as some would have you believe, but pretty tough.

Though slightly off topic, David Williamson's torn and restored transpo kills!

Wow. Surprized nobody has mentioned "Asunder" by Justin Miller. No worries over angles. T&R and "workers" don't usually go together. Yes I do this one table hopping and many times/day on a whim. Its very very nice! I also like doing David Forrest's "Damage" (more like a rip and restore) but it seems to get super amazing reactions. My third choice is REHAB! Why? Try and you'll know. The one I use the most is most definitely ASUNDER.

Reformation? meh... Far too fiddly, and I mean from a spec's POV. For totally impromptu, no dupes, try Ben Harris's Hoodwinked. Not perfect, and not good for purists, but the card is signed (if you want), and it's served me well (if only seldom) for many years.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.
As a side note, I love J. C. Wagner's stuff but I must admit, I don't get why his torn and restored is so popular. It's a 3/4 restoration and you need an extra something to do it. Paul Harris's Ultimate Rip Off is completely impromptu and basically the same effect. Yes, you don't get the neat display but to me, this is not much of a trade off. I don't now. For me, if I'm going to use extra things for a restoration, I want the restoration to be a complete one. Again, this is just me. I know many magicians much better than me who love the J. C. Wagner version.

I'm partial to my own creation, "Clean Torn and Restored." It's easy to do, very angle friendly, and meets one of my criteria when I created the effect --there is real tearing, but there are no pieces to ditch. When I do this routine I close with it.
It's an off the beaten path T & R. In his review of it, David Reagal said something to the effect that it was a strange trick, with two magical effects happening at the same time, but he still had the strong urge to try it out. Every now and then I get tempted to try the latest piece by piece, flash, slo-motion, multiple color T & R, but I always come back to my routine. In part because it's my creation, but also because it's very practical, powerful, and I've got good lines for it. Like Harry Anderson's Torn and Restored, it's a failure effect, with an unexpected kicker. For anyone who's interested, the effect is in "As the Crow Flies," available from lybrary.com |

Forgot to mention Charlie Frye Ripped & Fried. Not a peice by piece restoration but very visual. IMHO it's pretty knacky,I'm still working on it hence why I haven't performed it live yet. It is a lovely piece of magic though.

Ben Harris has some great work on the plot. Actually, he has a book dedicated to it.
Just like a previous poster, enjoy ripped and fryed, from true astonishments. It's a different take on the usual, but very visual. Good luck. |

I think learning 'the reformation' is a good excercise, as if you're unsure about any of the parts that make it up, it's really easy to find your own comfort zone and adjust things as you practise. I'm really not sure if I can mention this, so mods, please remove if it's a problem, but I have the original limited NTSC VHS tape that guy sold at his early lectures for sale on fleabay. If anyone's interested in the routine, the instructional video is a godsend!
