I have a show coming up for 4-5 year olds and was going over my effects and came across my Spotty Bag.The only thing I don't like about it is the "silks" are actually cotten hankerchiefs (so they don't compress as well),...does anyone know where I can get some "silk" replacements?
Thanks,Mike |

Mike,
I sent you an email. I think the folks here on The Café will tell you about me. |

In his Dollar Store Magic Book 1, Spellbinder shows how to convert a tote bag into a Spotty Bag and gives instructions on making the handkerchiefs - choose any two contrasting colors - from silks, or from fabric store nylon or satin.
That said, the trick to using your cotton handkerchiefs with the bag is to first drape the handkerchief over your hand with the fingers pointing up. Then poke each handkerchief directly down into the bag, center first, then fold over the ends without bunching them up. The handkerchiefs should then be relatively flat inside the bag. The problem you have comes from bunching them up so they become obvious from the outside of the bag.

You can get "SPOT SILKS" from http://www.tricksupply.com, they are made in India but the only spoted silks I know that are available in various sizes.

Here is the Black with white spots 15 inch.
http://www.tricksupply.com/product-p/uds......lack.htm Here is the White with Black Spots 15 inch. http://www.tricksupply.com/product-p/udspottedsilk_15.htm They also carry 9, 12, 18, 24, and 36 inch, as well as 39 inch streamers. 15 inch is the closest to the size that comes with the Spotty Trick. They have Black and White silks in the silk sections in these sizes as well. |

My spotty came with 9" hanks not silks, and the ones on trick supply look the same, so I emailed them for clarification.

I have actually purchased the silks and they are thin silk. 9" is way to small in my opinion.

I got my silks from trick supply, great, fast service. but I ordered the 6 inch as that was the size of the original, and since it is silk, it is too small.
12 inch is better. |
