I am so relieved that I had to share this with someone. And I am home alone, so Café is a great place for that!!!

Working for my 2nd masters (in health care) and I just TOTALLY completed ALL statistical data from the query forms (Quality of peer support training for cancer patients). I think I will see the excel grid in my eyes for weeks... Completed 49 pages of graphs. This was the part I was not looking forward to. And now its done. Cant recall I have felt this relieved. Wow.

:bubbly: and Smile for everyone!

Congratulations!
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about? Smile

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

Good for you. Relax. and Congrats!

Congratulations.

Cool. I greatly admire anyone working with cancer patients and it is something I personally could not handle. Good on you and the best of luck.

Congratulations. As somebody who took far too long and struggle with my PhD dissertation (and just graduated yesterday) I know how difficult it can be and what a great feeling it is to hit a milestone.

Keep up the good work and press on towards the finish line!

Congratulations imgic! That's some grueling and persistent work there, along with much hoop-jumping! I still have my dissertation materials boxed up somewhere in the basement. I never finished writing it, though I finished all the classwork and exams involved; I'm AB.d.--all but dissertation Smile Sometimes I fantasize that I'll finally finish writing the darn thing, but I doubt at this point it would make much of an original contribution to my field anymore.

Once read something like 60-80% of those that finish coursework never complete dissertation. I thought how ridiculous, to go that far then not complete it. But finding it's not as simple as that. Work, family, life all start getting in the way and the dissertation takes a back seat and never gets completed.

That's why it's great MyMagic got the data collection and analysis done. But it ain't over 'till the fat lady in the Dean's office signs off the paperwork. So press on! Get 'r Done!

If this is for a degree at a university or college- don't you have a time limit that you have to have the dissertation in by? I know when I was finishing my thesis you only had two years to get it in once you finished your coarse work or else everything you did went away like you never started!

AFAIK, I could theoretically enroll again, and write my dissertation, and assuming it's approved, get my Ph.D. degree. Perhaps my university is unusual that way, but I don't think so. There may be some stated deadlines, but I suspect most places are more flexible than you may think; once they see that you have made it through the coursework, etc., they are not going to actively stop someone who has invested that much time and work from getting their Ph.D. Especially if you have built good will along the way among the professors and the all-important secretarial staff! YMMV, of course.

True as I had to get an extension. But I had to contact them before my deadline was up to get it.

Good Luck and hope you finish it! Would be a shame to waste all that time not to get it!

Thank you very much everyone! And congratulations imgic!

When working on my 1st thesis (mba) in the 90s I thought "never again". But here I am again... I will get it done in March and I have decided to go for Ph.D so I will likely never stop studying. Though I need a break before I even think about it!
