I would really enjoy having a mentor or someone who has been in the feild of close-up magic/bar/street and mentalism. This isn't necissarily for learning material only, I would like to have someone to ask questions to IRL (even though you guys, and gals, are great and have been a great help so far) practice for, to point out flaws, someone who can give constructive criticism and things like that. If not one single person, is there a resource for magicians starting out or where I could find a strong local community. I will be living in NC once I get back from deployment near Jacksonville but I would be willing to drive an hour or two away to reach out. Any suggestions?

I have found the IBM group for NC. Are there any other groups like this or is this kinda like a one and only in the NC area? can anyone shed some light for me?

SAM has an Assembly in Jacksonville. See magicsam.com for contact details.
In large cities you will typically find both IBM and SAM groups. In very large cities, you will find additional clubs. In smaller cities either SAM or IBM will be present. Joining one or both will be good return. The monthly journals carry news and magic routines/ hints. You will also connect with the local magic community. That is how you will find a mentor. Good luck! Hudson |
