I like to create a multiplying balls routine (4 ball routine). Does anyone know of any books - dvd - where I can find some routines?

You will want to check out the McBride manipulation videos on billiard balls, coins and thimbles. He covers off on a lot of good stuff there. You may also want to check out an older book called, "It's Easier Then You Think" by Geoffrey Buckingham. It is an older book but is very excellent in covering billiard ball moves, loads and stealing etc. There are more but I will leave it at these 2 for now.

Also try Principles and Deceptions by Arthur Buckley. Real knukle busting stuff.

Bill Tarr has a nice routine in his book "Now You See It, Now You Don't" that incorporates various sleights that he also teaches in the book. The illustrations are excellent and easy to follow. While his is by no means a long routine, it is quite good.

All of these are very good indeed. The idea is to learn at your own pace from the various books and videos mentioned above. Learn the moves and practice them. Do not be in a rush to perform until you have really studied.

Tim Wright's Mulitplying Balls is a good video.
Be remembered for performing what looks like MAGIC, not skill.

McBrides "Without Tears" has some good beginners manipulation in it as well as a new thing with billiard balls that is both simple, but will blow your socks off. VERY clever! Worth a look.
Others include Wilsons, and Charlie Frye has a killer routine. |

All of these are great resources. If you can get your hands on the Chavez course notes, they are also very valuable sources of manipulative notes with photos covering all the moves and routines. It is something worth looking for if your at a convention or auction.
Take your time to get these books and videos and simply study them. Do not be in such a hurry to rush out and perform these wonderful moves. Learn them and learn them correctly. Take the time to get them right and then work on a routine that makes sense and is impactful for your audiences. They will reward you in their applause. Kyle

I keep mentioning Marvels of Mystery by John Booth... a not difficult but entertaining ball routine with a strong finish.

Don't forget Frank Gracia's small booklet on Billard Ball magic. You can get routines in this little booklet.

Try to get McMillan´s booklet, Symphony of the Spheres (maybe the special gimmick is still available too).
Also get the book by Richard Kaufman on a very different ball manipulation with interlocked hands(YES!!!). It looks terrific, if you do not mind practicing. Buckingham´s books and videos are a must!!!

Alan Wakeling. Incorporate all of them and be yourself, don't try to be one of them. If the move doesn't fit your style don't use it. And don't rush it.

Aldo Colombini has a three ball routine with a cone and a stand-up, no table required version of the classic Three Ball Routine called Get the Ball Rolling. Another ball routine by Aldo is Throw in the Sponge. This ia an easy sponge ball routine for restaurants and walk around that re-sets automatically.

Amen to Buckingham! But for just 4 balls, you wont use half of his stuff.
For a routine with just a few balls I'd have to recommend Alan Wakelings book too, clever thinking, but he does go to 5, well 4 balls if you know what I mean... Also see if you can get Shimada's Greater Magic Video Library DVD, he has a beautiful way of getting to the 4 balls, where balls are always appearing, vanishing and appearing in such a beautiful elegant manner, my favourite part being his 4 ball, to 1, to 4, back to 1 and back to 4. I loved it so much that I've adapted the look to a 4 solid ball peice as best I could. Paul |

There is a very nicely thought out "standard" multiplying ball routine in the Mark Wilson course in magic. That routine can be seen in performance on the Magic Circus tv series videos being done by Mark and his (then) small son Greg.
Jerry Mentzer's "Ball and Silk" booklet will inspire some magic as well.
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."
