Hi all,

I've been meaning to post this for some time: I know (because I've read several of them) that "The Linking Ring" has published several articles over the past 20 years about Indian magicians/magic in India. Most of those articles were very good. I'm wondering, though, if there're any decent books on the topic......I'm hoping to find (maybe) some rather high-brow titles.......really something that focuses on the actual magicians themselves. Any ideas??

Net of Magic by Lee Siegall. I may be spelling it wrong, but that's a great book for the real people, not for tricks.

Sorry it was so terse a post. I was on my phone. I hate typing on that thing. Anyway, Siegal was also the guy who showed Penn and Teller around India when they did that Magic and Mystery Tour special. You might want to look for that because it shows the real living conditions of the magicians in India. Grim.

Oh, and speaking of terse, I have to go take the kids somewhere right now!

A slight off-shoot here, but have you guys seen many of those photos of the old brahmin doing a levitation??? Seemingly cross-legged, barely touching a pole.....floating about two feet off the ground.....? Those are kewl!!!!! Smile

There's a fellow who calls himself Special Head who did that on AGT. Nicely done, too. His follow-up tricks, not so much. But the suspension was really nicely done.

If you haven't seen it I thought that this was pretty interesting:

Not so high-brow, but interesting and I thought pretty entertaining.
