I am going to be taking my first trip to NYC next week for a few days. Are there any shows, magic shops, etc. that are must sees? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Andy, Tannens is hosting a Jason England workshop on Sunday, Jan 19th and a Fritz Alkemade lecture on Thursday January 23rd. Also, Fantasma Magic (http://fantasmamagic.com/) is a couple blocks from Tannen's. It is worth checking out both magic stores while you are in town. The Steve Cohen show is fantastic, but generally sold out months in advance. Enjoy your stay in The Big Apple!

One of the posts above mentions the Saturday get-together at Rustico's. You are encouraged to come by if that coincides with the dates you'll be in NY. You'll find a bunch of magic dudes sitting around a table in the center of the dining area in the back. Folks start arriving at noon or a little before and hang around usually at least till 5 if not later. If you come by and say hello you'll find that it's a pretty friendly bunch. Café Rustico is located on West 35th Street between 5th and Sixth Avenues. It's one block away from Tannen's magic shop and just a few blocks from Fantasma, so you can hit a few of the NY magic highlights in one afternoon if you want. As mentioned above, it's definitely worth checking out both shops. And I second the endorsement of Steve Cohen's show at the Waldorf.

Dan White's show at The Nomad is incredible, but you will have to buy tickets well ahead of time as it sells out weeks in advance
