Hi
Has anyone ever tried to resurface their Industrial Revelation trick. I'd like to refinish mine and like to know what grit sandpaper to use. thanks Ralph

Think I would try a steel brush first.

I would use a bench top belt sander with something in the area of 100 to 220 grit. Depends how much material you wish to remove. Usually best to use a finer grit for a longer time. I generally use a somewhat worn 80 grit for anything like that. You can do it by hand but harder to get it to look as nice and takes a lot more elbow grease.

I know someone had a machinist re-surface theirs and also added a Cross-surface to help make "it" less visible. I believe it was mentioned in another thread on here.

A bench sander will work fine.
But be careful or you will take off too much material.I would say around 150 grit paper would work fine. Todd |

Ralph,
Before you try anything...maybe contact Jamie to get a tip on how he originally surfaced the device? I think it would be better than experimenting. Just a thought. C

While I was in the factory, we created the brushed effect simply with red oxide metal sandpaper, very heavy grit. Draw in on direction only and slowly over the metal, press lightly.
