I have mixed two effects how will I know if the extra effect enhances the trick for laymen or would they be reacting the same way with just the one effect. also will it dampen the directness of the main effect even though it helps tidy up the method

Magic Mashup!
It'd be hard to say without more details on the effects. You can try it both ways and see which gets the bigger reaction. Or you can use one effect to illustrate (through patter) a different aspect of the magical experience the layman is having. |
