I've seen angry posts from Bill Hegbli before. He should be ignored.
I purchased this from Penguin today. The video is an instant download. Dan's routine and tips are definitely worth your time and money. Terry |

I perform it more as a think of a card, I read the specs mind, then I tell them that I will reverse their chosen card in the deck as I turn around and remove one card from the deck and reverse it, then I ask the spec to tell everyone which card they thought of and BAM, there it is, reversed in the deck. That's at least one reason that I'm not a pro. I never call it an ID. Ever. I like it in jumbo size for large audiences, but I also like Bicycle backs. The odd back would not stop me from getting it, though.

Saw Harlan's manipulation routine with slices of cheese in Gatlinburg about 12 years ago. One of the most entertaining moments of magic I have ever seen. Was also very patient with a newbie like me asking him for help with elementary rubber band magic at the dinner table when I am sure he was sick and tired of everyone asking him questions. Never condescending.
I never forgot that...but I digress.

I agree too that the professional tips and techniques taught by Dan Harlan is well worth the price. Even if you already have a jumbo invisible deck in Bicycle (as I do) and have been performing it for some time, the idea of the bag and the (in)visible letter gag is great! You can always keep the deck as a backup - really nobody cares about the back design except we magicians! We seem to equate Bicycle brand with being professional!
If you want a solid routine and reactions like Dan gets, then buy the combination. If you're satisfied with yours and it works for you - and bicycle cards are your thing - then give it a skip! But to say this project does nothing to advance the trick isn't fair - just like Bill Abbott's box premise for 5 Card Opener! People here complain about how simple it is and whether it justifies the price tag - but who actually came up with a similar idea prior to the release? My hat off to Dan and P3 for presenting this twist to another classic! |

Just curious if this is a jumbo deck of the size we have become accustomed to, or is it smaller or larger than the typical jumbo?

I have used a jumbo I.D. for years, not sure what is new here. I have even seen Copperfield perform it on TV.

How does your routine begin? Where do you keep the Jumbo Deck? How do you introduce it? Justify it? When, in your routine, is the first "laugh" or response? How does your routine build? What magical moments are included? What do you do if someone names a King? How do you avoid the dreaded Ace of Spades? How do you remove and display the face-down card? How do you immediately reset?
If you have all the answers, and are happy with them, then there is nothing new here for you. Seriously, forget that I'm involved... this is a reasonable price for a Jumbo Invisible Deck. Penguin did not have to ask me to perform and teach my routine, but they did. I love the routine because it gives me solid stage time without difficulty. Audiences love it because it's fun, interactive, and has a solid magical payoff. So, I was quite happy to share it with all of you at no extra charge. I'm free dessert. --Harlan |

I'm just waiting for someone to say that jumbo cards scream gimmicked deck, and then this thread can be added to all the other ones.
Cool presentation Dan, as always. Steph |

@Paul, it is no longer made in Bicycle Decks because USPCC has ceased making Jumbo Size cards, and the 'spurt' of Jumbo Bicycle Decks that come out a few months ago, was only a limited run. The seller says he 'found' this last supply. They were not made by USPCC as the card stock was only one layer, thinner, and not as stiff. Looks like they are still made and being sold http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S5598

No you just get a high-quality gimmicked deck! The bag isn't included as its just a bag! Seriously, Dan gives clear instructions on how to make the bag and the gag sign. Its not hard to make, just needs time and minimal capital outlay.

Dan Harlan has been a great contributor to magic. I for one, really appreciate it. I am happy to see Dan on this project, and I'm sure many can benefit from his thoughts. Also, the price is pretty reasonable, so the additional cost of getting Dan is minimal.
BTW, for every sourpuss comment on this thread, there are probably 100 supporters of you, Dan. We have never met, but thanks for all you do. KJ |

I always love Dan's insights.
I was happy to buy it and will throw it in my case for those emergency moments when I need some extra material…. or when my other props don't show up at baggage.

Dan,
I personally really enjoyed your thoughts, personal handling, and little nuances on this project. I have been 'thinking' about ID for years and have several versions in print...and I still learned a few new things from you. Keep up the good work my friend! Cody S. Fisher
