Yo, I'm new to magic, and I wanna learn. But I cant really find anything on what I'm interested in. Im interested in using a Crystal ball (2.75", 72mm), and I just need different ways to make it appear and disappear, does anyone know any good books, dvd`s or tips, on using crystal balls or misdirection. Could you please let me know?

I learned how to manipulate a ball from Bill Tarr's book, "Now You See It, Now You Don't." I also use crystal balls with the Cups & Balls. Michael Ammar's Complete Cups & Balls DVD taught me the Mora/Vernon wand spin vanish.

Are you talking in terms of contact juggling? If so, I imagine any technique of hiding, or appearing a small object would work. For instance: change bags, topits, palming, pitches, holdouts, french drops...list goes on.

I was going to mention using these Crystal Balls for some great contact juggling. Check out Labrynth...there is some good juggles in there.

Yeah, Micheal Moschen(sp) actually was the hands for Labrynth, who started out in a two man act with Penn Jilet(sp) of Penn and Teller when they were kids.... sorry had to throw in the obscure magic reference with Labrynth.

Penn and Teller were never kids. They are giant gnomes.
Seriously, if you want to do all of those things with a crystal ball, condsider using an acrylic ball instead. They are a little lighter, less expensive, and won't shatter when you drop them on the floor. And you WILL drop them on the floor. Also, start with a 2 inch ball. Then work up to a larger one. You need to find a good video on billard ball manipulation. This is the closest part of the art to what you are trying to accomplish.

Learn to force a card, followed by cutting the pip from a playing card and scotch taping it to a small section of the crystal ball. You can then force a card on someone (the same card as the pip you taped to the ball) and you can show the ball to someone else with the pip on the vertical hiden by your hand that is holding the ball. Then by rotating it to the bottom, they will "see" the selected card. Ask them to call out the card they apparently see in the crystal ball. you have a miracle.
