Hey,
My friends and I have been paintballing for a long time now, but we just discovered the AirSoft guns that shoot plastic pellets. The guns are real replicas of real guns such as M-16's and MP5's and Tommy Guns, but they are spring loaded and shoot plastic pellets anywhere from 250 to 400 feet per second. This is about as fast as a paintball gun. So my questions are- 1) Do any of you play these plastic pellet wars, and if so where did you buy your gun(s)? I found some sites online but I am not sure how reliable they are. Thanks. TJ |

Well they would probaby hurt more than paint balls? Probably a little more dangerous don't you think? Sounds like fun though!

They might hurt more. Not sure, I'll see when I start to play.

No they hurt a lot LESS. I have been using my Airsoft gun for a while now.
The small little pellets do hurt like the dickens but they aren't as bad as paintball. I have a spring loaded one that has to be cocked before each shot. That is the downfall. I was going to buy a semi-auto gas blowback M5 but I decided that the $450 that it cost could go to a better use. Chris |

Chris,
I am also getting a spring loaded one because I can't see putting out that much money either. Where did you get your gun and what kind do you have? Thanks. TJ |

My cousins have a few of these guns, one of them has the full auto rifle, I don't know what gun it is supposed to be though. I was playing around with them, shooting each other. They don't hurt as bad as paintball's do but they are not as fun either. A suggestion for buying the BB's is to get them from china and buy them in bulk. That is what my cousins do and they said they got a great deal.

TJ, I bought mine at Big 5. They had them there for $40 but one of my friends works there and she got me an early sale price!
I have the Smith and Wesson .45 It is a good gun and shoots about 280 F.P.S. (Feet Per Second). Big 5 also sells the pellets too. 1000 pellets for $5.They can go pretty quick so I'd recommend you buy 2 cases! Oh one more thing, the gun I have is clear. I suggest you either buy a clear one, but if you DO buy a black gun then KEEP THE ORANGE TIP ON! It really wouldn't be a pretty site to be staring down the barrel of a cops pistol because he thought you had a real gun! Chris |

When I was in Japan I bought some semi-automatic pellet guns, 2 desert eagles and 2 uzi(co2). I thought I could get them back into Canada but, when I went to claim them, they took them away and threated to arrest me. It turns out you can bring real guns into the country but, you can't bring in pelet guns.

I don't do the pellet war thing but I have a gas blowback gun that didn't cost nearly that much. Maybe it's not the best quality out there, I don't know. But it's a semi-auto handgun and I paid about $70.00 for it a couple of years ago.
I got it at http://www.airsoftatlanta.com I have also purchased accessories from http://www.airsoftpro.net Both seem to be good companies. |

They both are pretty good (from speaking to other friends).
The reason the gun I wanted cost so much was because it was one of the bigger guns. It was an assault rifle MP5. Those are actually battery powered. I was had a typo in my earlier post! The only gas-blowback guns you can buy are handguns. Check E-bay for some great deals. But a warning! Make sure to do a Yahoo search and check out 5 or so different stores before checking out E-bay. Do your research so you don't get cheated! I have seen people trying to rip off "newbies" in the Airsoft area. Chris |
