Whoa!!! $355.00 with 5 days left to go. Impressive beginning. Exactly what kind of vino is in that vase?

The vino is the kind that has never been copied by another company. There are no pirated versions of Super Vase a la India because no one else can make it.

Interesting, I assumed this was just a basic lota vase.... It is one of the missig pieces in the collection and at these prices will probably be missing for awhile

Actually there are (several) pirated versions Richard. I own one. I bought it a year or two ago in a lot thinking it was Super Vase A La India, but while it looks exactly the same there is no Tenyo logo on the bottom. My pirated version does work slightly better however then the genuine Tenyo version (which I also am lucky to own), I mentioned that a while ago in another thread.

Does every Tenyo item actually bear a mark/logo somewhere? I recall Mystery of the High Hat for example having no stamp at all...

I didn't know about the pirated versions of Super Vase ala India--thank you for telling me!
I'm not at home at the moment and can't check my Vases to see if any have a Tenyo mark on them. Sometimes Tenyo items are marked and sometimes not. It also depends upon which production run--sometimes one production run will have a Tenyo mark while another will not. There are TWO versions of Ultra Tube! One has no text on the front and no Tenyo mark on the back. It was from the first run. The later runs have text on the front and the Tenyo mark on the back. |

Still $355.00 & holding with 4 days left to go. Has it maxed out early or is it merely the calm before the final bell? Predictions on final price?

The auction has been highjacked.
The 2 involved in a bidding war both have 0 feedback. This is not the first time we see this recently. Are there disgruntled Tenyo collectors who disapprove of the crazy prices some of are willing to pay for these little plastic mysteries? |

If what you state is true pierredan, they're pretty juvenile individuals. It accomplishes nothing & wastes everyone's time. Makes me think of the old Steve Martin line, "I remember when I had my 1st beer."
Dai Vernon's birthplace huh. Is that Ottawa, Nepean, Kanata or Orleans area? You're a lucky guy living around those parts. Very clean. Very friendly. Only downfall (pun intended)... snow & more snow. |

It's up to the seller to ban these bidders and keep the auction on track. You can expect to see the item relisted.

I see that the individual who has the high bid is also the sole bidder on the Tenyo "World of Magic" set at $899. It also contains a Super Vase.... Maybe they really love Super Vases...

Maybe it's just me but I don't see where people get entertainment out of making these ridiculous bids. Granted, it may just be a couple of 8-year olds fooling around but what's really in it for them? I'm sure there are some real bidders who would love these items and now they have to wait for the items to be relisted. It just seems mean-spirited to me and only serves to hurt people.

With all the money Tenyo eBay closing are fetching, of course there are going to be counterfeits.
The good news is that forging anything from an original always leaves tell tale signs. You wouldn't believe how clever Rolex forgers have gotten (down to using authentic less expensive Rolex movements in ultra rare versions). For notorious tricks like Ultra Tube, Super Vase A La India, Billscape, etc, one must use an extra critical eye. You can't simply 'trust' a good seller as they might have been duped. Too much greed in the Tenyo community, it's out of hand. |

When all was said & done & when all bogus & bs bids were eliminated...Super Vasa A La India fetched a respectable $851.02.

The prices some people are willing to pay for Tenyo may stem from the fact that they are not really magicians, but toy collectors who also get stung by the "magic bug" as they discover Tenyo. And watch out when they stumble upon Stereo's blog, that's when the compulsiveness to collect really hits you.
As a collector myself, I know that my judgement gets impared at times when my desire for a missing item is presented. But some recent prices on e**** have been crazy. Who wants to perform their plastic mystery if it cost them hundreds of dollars and could easily break as it is old plastic. I recently broke a Quicksilver when a coin got stuck. Not a big deal because it cost me aroung $50, but I may not feel the same the day I see it on e**** for 10 times more. When will the bubble burst? |

Pierredan: send me an email, I can probably replace the piece of your Quicksilver that broke.
