I have a nice version like that one, Mike, same one I think. But honestly, I prefer my little cheap Folkmanis version. I have a funny routine with him that gets a great response, runs about 7 minutes and is mostly based on stuff I got from "The Realm of the Rabbit". I've been doing it for a while, so I have the timing down and can really get some good laughs. I used it in a theater show a couple weeks back. It was a smallish theater, about 250 seats, but he worked great. The director and the theatre manager were in the back and told me Fluffy was their favorite. So, apparently, he 'reads' ok, even from some distance. And kids really like him. The only problem would be if I wanted to pull props out of the hat. For that I'd go with a different bunny. I've seen extended routines with the rabbit in the hat puppet, and really enjoyed them. The first performer I ever saw with one was Sammy Smith, and he does some great stuff with his bunny.

Bluesman,
I just made my own rabbit in the hat puppet. I purchased a grey rabbit and a top hat. The top hat was from party city for $5.00. Cut a hole big enough in the side of the hat to not only place the rabbit thru, but also, big enough to put my hand thru. Just a thought. |

Somewhere in the Café in the last month or two, this topic came up and quite a thread developed.
BTW: Do you know why a rabbit's nose is shiny??? No! why is a rabbit's nose shiny? Because his powder puff is on his other end! Do you know how to catch a bunny? No! How do you catch a bunny? Go out in the forest, hide behind a tree, and make a noice like a carrot! I can't remember his complete name, but the bit was invented by a west coast magic dealer, whose name was Charles. (Thus: Charles' OUT OF MY HAT was born.

I have a different rabbit puppet I use too, well made, semi-realistic and not cartoony. He's a full body puppet, and I place him in the hat in such a way that I can start the routine with him in the hat, then get him out and let him sit in my other hand. He's useful especially if I want to use the rabbit in the hat routine in a different hat, like a cowboy hat or a wizard hat.

I have a Folkmanis version and the One Way (Creative Ministries) with a large white fake glove shown on the front. I prefer the latter as it looks more comical, has greater flexibility for my hand and can hold the props for the routine. (I purchased "Realm of the Rabbit" book and props kits, "Hare-brained" and went to Greg Hamilton's FCM lecture in 2012.) There's lots to do with this puppet
