Hi all,

Id like some advice from folks who are using pulls and reels...

I have two items I want to yank; one is a small lighting device (orange superbright LED & watch battery) that I use to create a glow in my hand as I make something materialize there; the other is a hand-held double-barrel flash-cotton flame thrower (streamlined for no-catching).

The light weighs almost nothing; the flamer weighs an oz or two (for you in Europe, that's 1/16th of 2.2kg, whatever that is...).

What are you folks using for pulls for devices and items, AND... do you prefer pulling up sleeve or into jacket?

Well, Dave,

No one's answered ya...so, I guess it's up to me...

I like the Jack Miller holdout...I made it myself 25 years ago...it has a large alligator-type clip attached, and would be great for what you describe...up the sleeve, of course...

A pull, you could make yourself. Some elastic cord, and a clip, and you could route it to your jacket or sleeve, either one. I like the Raven, since it can be used for many effects...

The Jack Miller Holdout can be pulled out of the sleeve and tucked into the inside jacket pocket when not in use. Just takes a second to turn away, set it and you're ready. Same with getting it out of the way...check out the book, "Hold-Out Miracles", by Ed Mishell...invaluable material...

Sorry this took so long to post, as I was waiting for those more qualified to respond...

Hope this helps a bit!

Cheers!

If you are looking at reels, I believe that Petrick and Mia's locking reel is THE best reel on the market. The locking feature is especially nice because the object attached to the reel can be handled freely, but when you give the line a small tug, it is ready to reel in the line and vanish the object. It is available through L&L publishing. If you happen to have a lot of dough lying around, you may want to look into the FKP Holdout.

The best pull I ever have seen is the one invented by the german magician Jan Torell.
I think he was a pricewinner at FISM in the seventees ( Paris & Vienna). He also is the inventor of "The Instant Magician" wich Kevin James is selling. He was in the U.S.A.
and made a lecture tour and in his lecture notes he describes this pull. The title of this lecture notes is "Magic Around The Wizards Table".Try to find these notes.

Xantos,

The Jay Scott Berry reel info may be of interest to you. He uses the larger "key-bak" reels as pulls on his waist. Using an extension to the front of the body. By engaging the thumb under the line, a forward movement will bring an object into your hand. After use, release the item and pulled back.

This all depends on your dress attire. Open coat or vest is necessary.

His reels are a lot like Petrik reel, he has changed to a heavy duty line the last time I seen him. This was a while ago, so I don't know if they are still available.
