Ordered one of these from the seller but since realized that the effect differs from the ID-like "standard" Brainwave:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvGfQApN6y8 The so-called New Wave Brainwave seems to require an actual visible selecting, since only 26 faces are even available as options; Moreover, the main effect here is the different back colour of the selection. in contrast, the typical Brainwave effect, as I understand it, is more akin to the ID--mental selecting is available as all 52 cards can be produced, the selection appears face-up in a face down deck, and the final outcome can be blue card in red deck or vice versa depending on selection. After working with an ID (albeit my own creation at the moment) it didn't take me much to figure out how the cards were set and the R/S principle applied in each of these situations. Any experience out there with this ostensibly hobbled "New Brainwave" effect? I did order a "standard" Brainwave deck eventualy from Mimemis, but it would be interesting to get some mileage out of this alternate deck, even if I wasn't as fond of it as the "standard" effect. Les , you will be very happy with the decks from Mimemis magic. Shawn is a great guy.

He answered all my questions and responded quickly to e-mails. I wanted to say to my Canadian peers that given Shawn's reputation this seems to be the best source for us to get gaffed decks. My total order works out C$82 for six decks (Svengali, Mirage, Stripper, Brainwave, Brainwave Marked, ID). In my favourite magic store decks go for 13 to 19 bucks, plus 13% tax, so Shawn's are a better deal even with the shipping cost--especially if the treatment is superior. Les |

I agree with AnthonyJD & Les about the quality & low cost of Mimesis products.
Also, one of the best kept secrets in magic is Shawn Evans --> card-splitter, craftsman, author (10+ books on magic alone). Inventor of some wicked gimmick cards and decks. Plus a funny guy. Yes, this is a generous "plug" on my part because I feel obligated to do so. Mr. Evans custom-made numerous gaffed decks for me. Now, I have more confidence when performing. Priceless. |

Lcwright1964 how easy to read is the Brainwave Marked deck from Mimemis magic? I also have a number of Shawn's gimmicks and decks. He is a true craftsman.

So most folks with better eyesight could probably read them very easily I would guess. Sure beats having to count them individually though, especially for those like me who cannot count and continue patter at the same time. And it does make for a nice confirmation on those occasions where you may wonder if you have miscounted. I just ordered a few extra from Shawn. |

Thanks guys. Since my original post I have gotten most of gimmicked and gaffed stuff (quite a bit too, so he is nice to me ) from Mr. Evans--a few MT decks, a couple of short decks, Sv, Str, Mirage (basically a R/S Sv), plus the aforementioned ID and BW decks which are treated perfectly for effortless separation. The marking on the one is very clear once one knows where to look.
