I for one LIKE that it's paper that's bending. I haven't ordered yet, but could easily move into this routine with a line about how I've just started doing this type of thing, I hope to be able to work my way up to bending metal objects, like you may have seen some people do, but for now, as I'm developing this power, so far this is what I'm able to do.
I'm hoping that I'd be able to adapt this to business cards. Anyone have any thoughts on that? |

But I should point out, the amazing thing isn't that you're bending paper; the amazing thing is that you're bending it without touching it. Like the bending paperclip. Or...making a coin magically move across a table. You could say "HOLY CRAP HE MOVED A COIN FROM ONE SIDE OF THE TABLE TO THE OTHER!!!!!!!!" But, of course, the trick would be doing this without touching it. Just because we can accomplish this with our hands easily doesn't mean it's not impressive when we do it without our hands. Again, I'm not trying to persuade you here. (You don't like the trick, which is fine.) Just trying to stick up for my creation. Anyway, no big worries here. All is good my friend. |

And there are a couple different ways to perform CHI CARD. I like the version where you hold a card and give a spectator a card to hold at first. But here's another way to do it. (If you're curious to see what the card looks like going into the box, you might appreciate this):

Just downloaded this...I think it's SUPER. A No-Brainer for the price.
Working restaurants and seeing many of the same people, this will undoubtedly be an eye opener/jaw dropper. Many of the patrons tell me they have kept previous cards I've used. This they will definitely keep as well. It's getting harder and harder to impress people but this certainly will raise some eyebrows... My 2 cents..

I don't see why anyone would say this doesn't have the potential to be extremely powerful. It does. Money well spent.
Rick's teaching is great, and the method he teaches is too, but if you'd like to allow your spectator to remove the card from the box themselves without potentially giving them a hint as to the secret, this can be easily accomplished by turning the box over and sort of doing the "move" in reverse, masked by the motion of you extending your hand towards them. Then they can grab and remove the card and it looks 100% clean. Also, I saw some of you saying you didn't like the idea of the card being in the box, but if you use Rick's method and patter, there is a very good reason for why it is. However, that being said, the basic concept and technique could be used in a mariad of ways, so realistically, this is only limited by your imagination. Have fun with this one, guys! I know I will! |

Thanks Rick.
The youtube video just closed the deal with me, I almost passed on it. I just bought it for $4.95. It is really a fun way to have a laugh and give someone a souvenir before you launch into your serious card trick. I like having fun with people and this trick has fun written all over it. It takes 3 seconds to setup. The instruction is simple, straight to the point and well taught. It's easy to do. Its just fun acting and creating a moment of awe. Its important to know you take the deck out from the box, select a card, put the deck back into the box, insert the card, bend the card, hand out the card. Then take the cards back out of the box and do card tricks. Bending it in the box actually looks more impossible then in the hand. Why not show all that in the trailer? It's a winner.

I just finished watching. Great effect. As always Rick is a fantastic teacher and comes up with great methods. This is a very easy method and there are no Paper Crane moments which is awesome. Glad I purchased it was well worth it.

Very clever indeed. I've seen the effect tht this came from a while back and I didn't even recognize it! Doing it in the deck makes it seem 100% impossible.
I love it. Great work Rick! |

Acar, I wasn't singling it out. My point, though perhaps it was unclear, was that people are too focused on the minutae: Do they see it get put into the box? Do they not see it? Is bending paper impressive? Is it magical? Etc., etc.
I'm a big believer in Tommy Wonder's admonition that people will treat your magic however you treat your magic. If you toss it off as no big deal, then so will they. If you lend it an air of mystery, so will they. Now, that's not to say there's no such thing as a bad trick. There are most certainly bad tricks. Presentation is a lot, but it's not everything. Many tricks are poorly devised and constructed; just plain bad. Presentation is only one component of the whole picture albeit a very important one.
It's all in the reflexes.

A fun effect and definitely worth the money. As always, Rick's instructions are thorough and entertaining.
Now to brainstorm on integrating this into a haunted deck or similar ghostly routine... that's gold, Jerry! |
