Over the years there has been many threads on what got you started

What are some others that influenced you?

A. Getting my uncle Ed's approval on a routine.
B. Deciding to combine magic and mime (back in the late 70's
C. Becoming an apprentice under a master pupeteer
D. Concentrating on coin magic and ventriloquism.
One for my close up,the other for stage.
E. Putting more of me into my words on stage
F. Putting more musical instruments into the show.
G. Putting back strong magic into my platform/stage gigs.

..,,,and you ???

Seeing Paul Daniels at the Cork Opera House, age twelve, doing the magic square.
Seeing Doug Henning doing the Sands of India, and Newspaper Tear, on television, aged younger than the above.
Seeing Falkenstein and Willard doing the Spirit Cabinet in the Savoy in Limerick, aged about fourteen.
Seeing a kid (eleven year old Nial Toland) doing a thumb tip vanish in short sleves at the age of eighteen, at my first magic club meeting.

At heart I am a scientist. I need to know how things work. So I studied magic until I could do the Magic Square and the Spirit Cabinet. By the time I had the answers I was a semi-pro.

Those guys didn't influence my style or range of magical interests: they just sparked a latent interest.

This is exactly what happened at the age of eight.

I saw a magician on live TV executing the Worlds Fastest Trick and he removed the cloth too fast. I thought "I could do that".
