Some of this reminds me of the stuff Bizzaro has on his Sharpie DVD! Hmmmmm....?

All the moves included have written permissions and credits from
Gregory Wilson Garrett Thomas Johan Stahl Rick Merrill These formed the basis of everything we used. Flip has also been fully credited for the original Flipstick move. Thanks for the concern though guys. We take crediting very seriously |

Looks really good to me, some fantastic moments and knowing the quality of Tom and Matt's previous works, of course the credits are going to be there.

Thanks for the interest guys. I'm genuinely proud of this DVD. It was a pleasure to film!
I've watched over Bizarro's DVD, A Marked Man, and I can say with complete confidence that there is no crossover. Admittedly, we do both cover sleeving techniques, but otherwise, the crossover is very slim. We both teach the flipstick, however Bizarro spends less than 60 seconds talking about how to do the move, whereas we spend decidedly longer on the finer points, techniques for gaining speed, as well as a brief discussion at the end about the whys and hows of the subtleties that make it what it is. It really does contain some of the best material from the best in the world. World Champions, TV stars, FISM winners & of course the original, FL!P himself! Really excited by this release!

This looks great and seems like something worth practicing and the effort. When will it be available to the masses?

Started watching this now and certainly not disappointed.
Question for Tom though...are you left-handed? I'm much better at the flipstick with my right hand but there's a lot of left-handed action on this so wondered if that was just the way you'd learnt it. |

Tom mentions on the DVD that he is left handed. I also got this at Blackpool after seeing Tom dem this quite a few times. It's s very thorough source of pen vanishes, appearances and transpositions. Very impressed.

Mini review
This thread seemed to die a premature death, so in light of Jamie ‘the scoopmaster’s’ news about a new Matthew Wright Sharpie product, I’d thought I would share some thoughts on this product. I paid full price for it and do not know Matthew or Tom (although I have had a few email exchanges with Matthew in the past). DVD quality/production: This is a very well shot and produced DVD, with functional menus, good sound and lighting, some over the shoulder camera work… nice! Magic type: Mainly close up magic, strolling, impromptu or smaller tables.. but, if you have the performing chops, the material here can be adapted for almost any performing environment. Plus, a lot of the material can be ‘bits of business’ to make your existing work a little better.. Teaching quality: There is detailed teaching in a style reminiscent of the David Stone Real Secrets DVDs, e.g. no talking, but very clear and intelligent camera work and subtitling. Routines, moves, holdouts & sleeving are demonstrated and then taught. There is a section where Matthew & Tom go over some of the work, so there is some audio teaching as well. Overall I would describe this as excellent. Tom is clearly very skilled with a Sharpie. Difficulty level: Something for all skill levels. Easy to hard, with plenty in between. Crediting: This has been mentioned elsewhere in the thread, but there is detailed crediting on this project. Good job. The moves: For the move monkeys or those starting from scratch, you will find a range of productions, vanishes, switches etc. The routines: The DVD features several routines, most of which are fairly short (as they probably should be unless you’re planning a Rick Merrill FISM busting pen-fest). Although there is some good stuff here, this should also be inspiring you to develop your own interpretations/variations. Some moves/routines are angle proof, some are not, but the teaching normally makes it clear if you have to be careful. Cost: For the price of a couple of single trick downloads, you get all of this. Does your close up magic collection not deserve this? I got mine directly from Marvellous FX (support the creators). Constructive critique: Not much to say here. A few live performances would have been good, as they can really bring moves/routines to life. To the camera’s unblinking eye, there are a one or two flashes, which should remind the viewer to practice those angles in consideration of the performing environment e.g. standing, sitting audience etc. Positives: I mentioned earlier about the silent teaching style. Throughout, there is background music but… it’s pretty chilled and doesn’t make me want to poke a Sharpie into my ear. Well done team! The end discussion and Matthews bonus routine is not filler, but very good. This is very well produced DVD. Final thoughts: This is one of the best buys I have made in quite a while. Need a professional close up routine or two? No problem. Need some impromptu knock out magic good enough to earn you a booking? Yep, it’s in here (perhaps cheesy, but true). This release has inspired me and provided the missing elements to a strolling routine I have been working for a while (think Nick Einhorn’s N.O.W. ‘4 tricks’ routine). PS-Jamie F – If you want me to ‘review’ your copy of the new MW Sharpie release, send it down south! Charlie |

Great review Charlie. This dvd offers great value for money.
In terms of the new MW Sharpie release, I'm enjoying having exclusivity for a while. I promise to share more when Matthew is ready to.
