I'm seeing it, as well. So I'm sure it's just a temporary glitch in the forum software.

I'm getting html code in my posts now whenever I try to use BB code. For example, I used the BB code consisting of a colon followed by a smiley face name, followed by a closing colon- just as I've done for years with no problem.
<BR>
<BR>I'll do that again as a test here to see what happens-

And that's what's happening. I did not use any html code in my previous post, but the software is incorrectly converting BB code to html, and the latter isn't even supposed to be allowed on the forum.

Okay. I'll try posting the same BBcode smiley the exact way I did it in my previous post.

I don't know anything about coding. What has happened when a problem like this suddenly occurs? Do codes that were correct just spontaneously change themselves?
|
Gene Café Forum Developer Howard City, MI 276 Posts |
No, I was making some modifications to certain functions and one of those was what caused the problem. I simply reversed that modification and figured out a different way to do the same thing that wouldn't affect anything else.

So, there were a number of posts that were affected with the coding glitch, showing code for breaks, smilies, and links. The code still appears in those posts. Will the odd looking posts be corrected at some point?

Not automatically. Once posted they go into the database that way. Any posts affected will have to be reported so they can be fixed.
