I might be there for two months starting from this 9th of March, for training and a TV shoot.

Anyone here from thereabouts?

I might be going to Sydney as well but just for a week...

We can jam and shoot some stuff. Smile

I'm a Melbourne boy (now living in the UK), but have spent a bit of time on the Gold Coast.

I used to work at the Melbourne version of this:

https://www.draculas.com.au/queensland/the-show/

Highly recommended, if you dig hilarious, high-camp cabaret.

The Haunted House is also worth checking out too:

Have a great trip!

This will be the first time I'll be performing as a Mentalist in Australia.

I was there years before, almost 20 now...

Really looking forward to it.

Planning to do my "Love Is Blind" blindfolded walk while I'm there with a Mentalist from down under... Smile

Pakar - I missed this when it was first posted, but I'm in Brisbane, less than an hour away. Love to meet you next weekend if you're still in town. PM me.

Pop into Sean Taylor's shop in Sydney. Pretty good shop, run by a mentalist. The onky time I was in Sysney, I stopped in and found Sean talkative, interesting and fun.

Unfortunately Sean doesn't seem to be running a brick and mortar store any longer. The only one that I know of is Hey Presto in Sydney

EEK! Things happen when you don't visit a country for a couple of years. Thanks for the update.

I'm from the States and was thinking about purchasing something from Hey Presto's site (heyprestomagic.com.au or heyprestomagic.com, seems to be the same site).

Could you tell me if Hey Presto a reputable company? Are they (and their websites) legitimate?

Thanks!

Hey mate,

I have purchased from and been to Hey Presto. It's a small shop in Sydney but has been there for quite a while. I don't think you will have any dramas ordering from them.

Surely there are plenty of places offering cheaper postage in the states though? Or have you moved to Aus?

Thanks for the reply. Hey Presto is the only place I've seen this item for sale. If there were places selling it in the States, yes, I'm certain postage would be cheaper, but postage honestly wasn't my main concern. Just wanted to know how reliable, reputable, honest, legit they are. And you answered my question. Thank you Dave!

Hey Presto claims the title of the biggest magic shop in the Southern Hemisphere (though to be fair, I'm not sure how they are quantifying). I'd certainly say they were reputable, trustworthy and, as you say, legit. I've been to the store, and they're definitely not a home business. It's big enough to endure, and they're not going to suddenly go out of business between taking your order and shipping it. So feel safe buying from them.

...But I'd hesitate to say they were competitive on price.
