Clue- This person was my Mom's favorite entertainer. You don't know my mom but she was born the same place I was.:O) This entertainer (was/is) known by everyone in that country. More popular than where this entertainer was born.

Yes, you got it Landmark!!! Apologies my clues were somewhat confusing.
I did mention she was more popular in this country (France) and (where I'm from), than her own country of birth (US). She's considered a national hero in France and every man, woman and child knows her name in that country. Her life story is so amazing and a must read! She was a really remarkable woman. Besides being a consumate entertainer, Josephine Baker was a spy for French Intelligence during WWII, and the only woman to officially speak at the historic MLK civil rights march on Washington in 1963. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josephine_Baker
