I'm currently performing at Adelaide Fringe and the other night I came back to my car to find the window smashed in. A thief, clearly enticed by the flashiness of my 1995 toyota corolla, had broken in. All he or she stole was a big bit of fake fur fabric that I use to make a beard in my show (perhaps to fashion a disguise to flee the crime scene with) and my little case containing my ventriloquist mask.

I like to hope that somewhere out there is a junkie who is going to take my beloved mask and turn over a new leaf. They'll give up all the heroin and thievery and become the best ventriloquist ever.

The cops came round yesterday morning and finger printed my car. I felt like I was in a really low budget episode of CSI. Unfortunately the consensus is that they are unlikely to find anything.

That's a real shame
I totally feel for you.. I had a main character stolen from backstage at a comedy club WHILE I was performing..
It makes you feel so violated to have a piece of your livelihood taken so abruptly.
I hope you get it back Sarah.. Or at least get a replacement soon. In my case - I was without that character for a few months waiting to get the time to make a replacement.. It really sucks though.
Hope the rest of your run is a more positive experience.

Yes, Wanlu, very kind offer. They actually fingerprinted your car? Every place I've lived the cops won't send an actual crimes scene unit around for a relatively petty theft. There would have to be blood, a dead body, rape, or other assault for them to make the effort. Sorry about your loss and glad to here about a municipality that cares enough or is bored enough to make that effort.
