I've gone through every page of the sidewalk shuffle section of the forum and in the past, it seems, Sonny Holliday was mentioned pretty often as being one of THE street guys. Does anyone know what became of him? I've seen a couple of videos of him on YouTube (possibly through Tom Frank's channel) and on one videos there's a comment from someone saying they are his nephew and he's not doing well. This comment was from a few years ago, I believe.
Anyway, I'm just curious as to where he's at nowadays and if he's still performing.
Tom Frank, any idea where he may be?

Well, I can't really vouch for my version of the Story,
but,..
I heard,
that after his sex-change operation, a couple of years ago,
his voice changed!
He HAD been making most of his income playing 75th birthdays,
as a Paul Harvey immatator,..
voice gone,...
ouuuh!,...
then Paul dying, a couple of years ago,..
well,..
the well done dried up (!),
so to speak.

So,..
he headed off to Idaho,
and joined up with a Hara Krisna group,
who specializes in making hand-carved Christmas Manger Sets,
out of water-proof paper-mache.
There was a slight falling out, though,
when he found out Jimmytalksalot was actually in charge of the operation,.
and secretly writing a book,
exposing all the inside information!

Since then,..
well,
I don't want to spill the soup,
but,
has anyone seen Britney Speers lately?(?)((!)).

like I said, I can't vouch for all of the Story.

Occasionally, weather permitting, Sonny can still be seen performing on South St. in Philadelphia. He tried to talk me into going to Mardi Gras with him this year, but I was too wise

I would love to meet Sunny. I've borrow several aspects of his style from just a few poorly filmed YouTube clips of him I've seen. Anyone that wants to improve their street magic should watch what Sunny does. Would love for him to publish a book or DVD or something.

Umm no.

Knowing what little I do of Magic Magazines, and what I know of Mr. Holliday, I can't imagine, unfortunately, the two meeting up in literary form.

Perhaps if Hunter Thompson was still alive and still feeling his oats, and was by some weird twist of fate a "foreign" correspondent for said magazine, maybe.

I saw him just yesterday performing at the head of Rittenhouse Square. He said that he was coming off of a three month break.

I think he got himself into some trouble......

That he did. He's going to be put away for a long time. I had probably been one of the few people he knew who had seen him last and there was nothing that I could do for him. Over a year ago now. I'm pretty sure that Sonny was severely depressed and probably started some, or at least one, of his bad habits again. He probably spiraled downward from there.

..you pack up and go 'home',...alone.

Friends(?), scattered like dry leaves.
Family,...
the travel takes it's tax.

It's somehow a really sad story.
,...maybe, it's not(..?).

I wish him well.
The little I knew, of him;
was inspiring,..
and discouraging.

'Legends' has a really slippery definition.
1.) Something larger than life.
2.) Something un-verifiably false.

I couldn't help but seeing him there,
with an 'Arrow-thru-the Head gag' on.

Sunny Holliday,...maybe he can take the time to write down some thoughts,
..share some ideas,
.....come out of the shadows.
