This winter has been brutal for many of us this year. In spite of that, there are still some beautiful aspects to it.

Nice pics Michael! When I read the title of your thread I thought it was going to be about sump pumps.
My concern IS the spring thaw. We have ALOT of snow on the ground and I have a basement that's prone to flooding. But its not from ground water, there is a natural retention pond upstream from my house, everything upstream spills into it and when it fills to a certain level the water finds its way underground and comes up through my basement floor. The hydraulic pressure of this water is so great that it broke through my concrete floor and creates a spring about 2 foot high. The water settles out @ 5 feet. (half way up my electrical breakers) Worst part is you can pump all you want but the level won't go down until the pond does. It's like 2 cups connected at the bottom by a straw. |

I sure wish you could ship all that water out here to CA- we need it desperately.
In the meantime, check into moving the breakers, adding a heater, and having yourself a nice indoor swimming pool.

Seven lots on my street, running perpendicular to the water. I'm # 6 from the water. Last year's flood got the first 3. Helluva lot more snow and ice this year. I'm not looking forward to your thaw any more than you are.

You don't know how close I came to putting a sign in my yard that said "Free Snow". Ha!
