Most magicians associate Richard Turner with card work, but he does some pretty freaky things with coins on his flourish DVD. I believe he held the world record at one time for the most coins rolled in one hand.

I'm trying to remember the name of magician who did a whole stage act out of the coin roll.
I recall that his female assistant would put coins on his hands, while rolling them... Any idea ? |

Here is a short clip of me performing the criss-crossing coin roll in which two coins travel in opposite directions. This is something I thought of and started working on in 1982 believe it or not and only in the last few years have I been showing it to folks. I still would like to get it smoother. I had no idea Richard Turner had something similar although I'm intrigued to see his approach. Thanks to Kainoa Harbottle for capturing this. The link goes to his Instagram page. If you collect the Reel Magic DVDs it's also in the Move Monkey section of issue #26.

Any suggestions on how to keep my fingers curled. They tent to stay open when I roll the coin.

I've tried doing it with a coin classic palmed, just can't get that. Maybe, some day..
You know what I like about a coin roll? It's a good conversation starter, and people instantly identify it as magic. |

Well, actually, I regard it as "contact juggling", but, "we" are allied arts, so if "they" think it's magic,I wont argue with "them" !!!

When practicing, block the tips of your fingers with your other hand so they won't stick out.
I can't stand seeing people who roll with the fingers out-stretched, their hands look like the slimy sea-pirates from pirates of the Caribbeans. |

And after you might try vanishing the coins and finding them in a second muffin
Perhaps consider doing a split muffin bit ALA bird splitting (1 to 2 birds) If you are at a table perhaps share the bouncing muffin. Thanks for the humor and food for thought. Harris Still too old to know it all and with Palms of aluminum foil, for a lighter touch in coin magic
