I need help remembering the name of a gimmick I have. It is an Abbott's version. It is basically just a thumb tip made of wire screen. The kind used in window screens. Cover your thumb with a hank and the apparently push pins thru it. I know the gimmick has a specific name but I am drawing a blank. Anyone here know?

I think I read about doing it with a carrot in Spooky Magic Tricks; It was my first magic book as a kid!

Thst method was also printed in one of the Penn and Teller books.
Sorry London not sure of the name but sounds like a neat twist on the method. |

Yeah I remember the carrot bit not that it is mentioned. This gimmick is essentially the same idea. I think I found it in an old catalog. I believe it was called impalement. It is a neat old gimmick. I should take a pic and show it here.

London:
I had to reach waaaaay back on my book shelf to get my Abbott Catalog # 9 (1947). What you have is Abbott's "IMPALEMENT", which retailed for $1.00. (4 steel miniature daggers (steel needles with knobs) penetrate the thumb). PM me your e-mail address, and I can send you a JPG of the ad, and if you wish, then post it here. --Moxahalla |
